Is this done with a complete CGI takeover, or a collapsing 'shell' in the mask, and then blending out the seams at the neck?
The last 5 or 10 frames says 'CG takover' to me, or complete CG mask from the start - but I can see how it could be done practically.
His hand and finger movements are spot on (which I imagine would be incredibly difficult to 'mime' - and doing a full hand/arm replacement seems like overkill).
Not sure if this is a stupid question - but is there a reason why NANITE and traditional LOD's cant be run concurrently?
Ie - have nanite streaming the geometry - but use traditional LOD's to load/unload the geometry as needed, with nanite handling the blending of the LOD's?
Living in South Africa is crazy - cos I read about what people think living in South Africa is like, and I can see the broken telephone way that events here get twisted up and become these stories.
It’s the flamethrower anti hijack system.. it’s not real… but honestly it’s just a few degrees off being kinda believable.
Unreal light bakers… is the default ‘green’ recomended light map resolution REALLY ok? I find myself cranking it higher…
Whenever I see some amazing tech in games that I know how it works - I still dont know how it actually works.
Games are magic.
I’ve been watching a LOT of Horror lets plays for the last few months - almost using them as background ‘music’.
Something I’ve noticed is that the horror often seems… mean spirited.
I can’t quite put my finger on it. It’s the same feeling I get when watching things like SAW or the Hostel films. I don’t enjoy them.
And it’s not the gore - I’m always good with slushy gore. But they seem to revel in cruelty.
Horror is my favourite genre and I know it’s a taste thing - but horror is so much more than violence.
I even got this same feeling when watching someone do a deep dive into PT… certain parts of the story seemed to wallow in the cruelty… and I know that it’s for the shock, and it’s to give people a place to experience things in a safe environment - but it just borders on… exploitative?
It could just be an age thing - but I like it when my horror is tinged with… hope?
Back when Moses was more Teddy bear.
I did like this design - but just couldn't get the mouth to work in the cutscenes.
The new design honestly grew on me tho. :D
Man. Insomnia is just the worst.
In general I have terrible sleeping patterns - but when the stress hits it throws my brain into a blender.
I’m blown away that his head is still there.
First thing I did was push that head bone right into the neck!
There is something quite scary about finding your passion and turning into your career.
It becomes your entire life.
The truth is that I can’t imagine NOT doing this. I don’t know what I would do if I wasn’t creating. It’s terrifying to think that there may be a moment in the future where I can’t do it.
Designers - what something that seems trivial, but has massive repercussions?
I’ll go first - adding in climbing to your game.
As soon as you add in the ability to climb onto things - it’s completely changes how the AI systems work - and how your levels are designed.
There’s a reason why so many slow paced horror games don’t let you climb on objects…. Cos damn the ripple effect it has is insane!
