Our thoughts are with Senator Murphy and his family following his stroke, and we wish him well in his recovery. A stroke can happen to anyone, at any age. We encourage everyone to know the warning signs of stroke. Remember B.E. F.A.S.T.: Balance loss, Eye or vision changes, Face drooping, Arm weakness, Speech difficulty. If these signs appear suddenly, it’s Time to call 911. Learn more at stroke.org.

How do you balance Alzheimer's disease treatment with the need for anticoagulation or antithrombotic therapy? The framework highlights the importance of multidisciplinary collaboration among neurology, cardiology, pharmacy, primary care, and other clinical teams to support individualized treatment decisions. It also identifies key evidence gaps that will require future research as antiamyloid therapies become more integrated into clinical practice. This focuses on the role of nonvascular physical and psychological risk factors that affect brain health, ranging from the exposures experienced during early development and childhood brain maturation to the influences leading to neurodegeneration and decline in older adults.

For the first time, the AHA/ASA Guidelines include pediatric stroke, a major step toward ensuring all stroke centers are prepared to care for children. Thanks to IPSO members Drs. Nestor Gonzalez, Peter Sporns, and Heather Fullerton for their contributions! @AHAScience
Every year in the United States, >600000 individuals have a first ischemic stroke and approximately 200000 more have a recurrent stroke. This guideline aims to incorporate this updated evidence in order to provide an up-to-date, comprehensive set of recommendations for the acute evaluation and management of patients with AIS. ✍🏼 @annealexandrov @AlexandraCzap @OanaDumitrascu5Koto @ashupjadhav @BarrowNeuro @SVINjournal @PoojaKhatriMD @wtkimberly @brianmacgrory @tmadsenem @eva_mistry @natperezossa @strokemaven @PSporns @stavtjoumakaris @WFNeurosurgery @shadiyaghi2

Brain imaging is essential to exclude hemorrhage in adult and pediatric patients eligible for AIS reperfusion therapies. Although CT-based protocols are more efficient and generalizable, MRI-based protocols may be appropriate in high-resource settings and in pediatric populations if similar time to imaging can be achieved as with CT. 📷 ASPECTS: Alberta Stroke Program Early CT Score. ✍🏼 @annealexandrov @AlexandraCzap @OanaDumitrascu5Koto @ashupjadhav @BarrowNeuro @SVINjournal @PoojaKhatriMD @wtkimberly @brianmacgrory @tmadsenem @eva_mistry @natperezossa @strokemaven @PSporns @stavtjoumakaris @WFNeurosurgery @shadiyaghi2

The 2026 Guideline for the Early Management of Patients With Acute Ischemic Stroke aims to cover the full course of the emergency evaluation and early management of the patient with AIS. This includes the earliest interaction with the health care system in the prehospital space, early evaluation and treatment, and in-hospital management of patients with AIS. 📷 Journey of a patient with AIS. ✍🏼 @annealexandrov @AlexandraCzap @OanaDumitrascu5Koto @ashupjadhav @BarrowNeuro @SVINjournal @PoojaKhatriMD @wtkimberly @brianmacgrory @tmadsenem @eva_mistry @natperezossa @strokemaven @PSporns @stavtjoumakaris @WFNeurosurgery @shadiyaghi2
