One of my favorite things to ask kids is "Are you stuck? Or are you thinking?" I do this because it gives them agency in whether or not I support them. Sometimes, kids just need extra time to think--and if we intervene too soon, we diminish their agency.

Sharing contributions of how @SCDSB_Schools and the work of @scdsbELL are standing up to racism and celebrating the excellence of our diverse groups of students. Breaking the silence with @DH_scdsb and starting the hard conversations was Time Well Spent.

Not all your students come to class wanting to learn… but they all come wanting to belong. And when they feel like they belong… they’re much more likely to learn.
