> Footage from the purges against the Kurdish people by the Turkish government > footage full of elderly, children and woman > Turkish community note „These are all PKK teröristiye!!!!“ Turkey continues to be the most fascist society.
This represents the colonization and abuses that the Turks inflicted upon the Kurdish people. Some people actually believe the narrative spun by Erdogan and his kin—that they are champions of Islam.

“Iran does not have terrorist groups randomly shooting up churches, synagogues, and mosques.” ~ Daniel Haqiqatjou Here is a compilation of Irān’s proxy dropping barrel bombs on Syrian civilians.
Iran - unlike the US, Europe, and the Arab world - does not have terrorist groups randomly shooting up churches, synagogues, and mosques. There is one reason for his. Iran realizes that all these terrorist groups are Wahhabis, and that the groups are run by allied Saudi, US, and Israeli intelligence agencies. Iran bans these Wahhabis. Meanwhile the US, Europe, and many Arab countries have allowed them to run on a rampage for decades to blacken the reputation of Islam and Muslims. If you do not want terrorism in your country, eliminate the Wahhabis. Every sovereign Muslim government does this. This is why Iran bans them. It is also why Afghanistan bans them.

Realistically: If Abdul Sayed's politics were articulated in the Arab world, the first group of political actors to oppose him would be... Islamists.

The Assad regime collapsed. HTS was one factor. So was Ukraine. So was Israel. So was Assad for destroying his own economy. So was the protest movement and the self-organisation movement, and the Free Army, and every act that weakened and hollowed out the regime over 14 years.

The latest footage from Gaza. It wasn't just Israel who did this. The West did this. We will never scrub the shame away.

Yeah, such a magnificent and humble man he was
I hadn't seen this speech before. What a magnificent, profound, humble, beautiful man he was. How sorely he is missed.

“No one calls me mum” 🥲 The mother of my martyred friend Yousef. Israel killed her entire family: her husband and all of her children. She speaks from her heart about the sorrow, grief, and oppression left behind by this monumental loss. The worst loss anyone can ever live through is to be a mother and lose one of your children.

Amazing how Ziwe gives Hasan a harder interview than any journalist who’s ever written a profile of him.

After nearly 2 full decades in war journalism, I admit that it does depress me that of the many opinions I hold, the one that drives the most abuse, is the belief that I want both Jews and Arabs to live safely, securely & prosperously as neighbours & friends in the Middle East.

Hijri's petty dictatorship is disgusting, and it only persists because of al-Sharaa's appalling failure to apologise to the civilians of Suwayda, to punish those who committed sectarian massacres, to allow inhabitants of occupied villages to return.
In Suwayda, Ribal Shujaa was allegedly abducted and beaten by an armed group linked to Sheikh Hikmat al-Hijri’s National Guard after a disagreement with the sheikh. The video shows bruises on his face. This is how dissent is treated.

The Houthis have now killed more Muslim pilgrims than they've killed Israelis (in their entire history, they've managed to kill one maintenance worker at a hotel in Tel Aviv back in 2024 with a drone). An Iranian MP boasted in 2014 that "Iran controls 4 Arab capitals" referring to Sanaa', Baghdad, Beirut & Damascus. Jerusalem, where this axis promised they'll pray, was not on the list. The overwhelming majority of victims of this axis are Arabs, hundreds of thousands of Syrians, tens of thousands in Yemen, thousands of Iraqis (civilians who are both Sunni and Shia) and thousands of Lebanese (most of them Shia from the Amal movement). I wrote about this recently here theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0…

Notice how most of the people are wearing Umrah attire, clearly showing they are Muslims from around the world who worked hard to save money and participate in this important religious ritual.

I remember during the height of the Assad regime’s atrocities & the shameful whitewashing of those crimes Stop the War Coalition was engaged in. @CarolineLucas was the only person to resign from STWC in solidarity with Syrians, after explicitly speaking up for them at a meeting.
