OUR FAKE ONLINE MOMENT I'm not totally sure what's going on, but a lot of what's happening online right now feels fake. If you look at a YouTube video, you might see a flood of positive or negative comments. They seem like maybe AI? Or bot farms? Or paid? You click the people's accounts and they have maybe one post from 3 years ago? Are they real? Why do they have such strong thoughts about this? You go to Instagram and comments sections are full of random people with private accounts posting very similar messages. Or posting a gif that has nothing to do with the topic. Who are these people, and are they actually people? On X, it's people in the replies that do nothing but reply to other people and RT accounts that share inspirational messages. Apparently just people who like inspirational messages and hurling insults in the replies of posts. Then there are the real people - people who definitely are real - who appear to be getting outraged in very fake ways. They are people with jobs and families, and yet they have decided to become person 57 or person 294 in online mobs. They can't possibly be authentically thinking what they're posting. In real life there's no way they're this fake. But online, they lean into this fake performance art. The internet is not real life, and it never was. But in the past few months, it has seemed more fake than ever. Rational behavior has dissipated. It's harder than ever to tell what's authentically a fake account and one who is a real person. Is a person real if their entire online presence is AI-generated? Is a person fake if they hide their true motivations? Our fake online moment is unsettling. But it's a good reminder that none of this is actually real, and the only thing that's real is real life.

This line is getting praise on X, but it’s actually elitist garbage written by a speechwriter who clearly hasn’t spent much time in a Cheesecake Factory, which has none of the gaudy Trump aesthetic, and just feels good to say because it represents flyover MAGA “night out.”

Something interesting about this (other than the @esaagar cameo) is that it seems clear 2018-2024 Dems would have never countenanced messaging from a competitive candidate in a major race like, "Free speech IS under attack and we SHOULD make America healthy again"
A head-turning new "Michigan First" ad from @AbdulElSayed - he names some issue he agrees with MAGA voters on, then plays a supercut of Fox News hosts/Tucker praising him or bashing Mike Rogers. semafor.com/article/10/23/20…

I’m a Zionist. I don’t love seeing American politicians endorse Israeli politicians. You could make an argument Vance is being “pro-Israel” by declining to endorse Netanyahu.
JD Vance is now being labeled anti-Israel, that he committed an 'unforced error,' and they're 'disappointed' he didn't endorse Bibi Netanyahu

2026 has been an extremely weird year, but I think it can all be summed up in the moment Nathan Fielder demands a script be changed from “it” to “something” at the 170 minute mark of a documentary about Elizabeth Holmes.

I normally would ignore a silly and obviously false post like this, but multiple people who I know are not idiots have shared it treating it like it's real, so I think it's worth clocking how absurd misinformation gets spread on this platform. If the comically constructed bar graph wasn't a tipoff, it takes about 5 minutes to see the various issues with the computations. First, the "before" area is based on 7 days, and the "after" is based on 4.5 days. Two of the 4.5 "after" days are the weekend. For some reason October 7, a Wednesday, is neither "before" nor "after" and just ignored entirely. Then you get into the fine print at the bottom. This is "average views per post" on X only. For Tucker Carlson, who doesn't use X beyond posting his show, the before appears to be 1.7 million based on 3 shows and the after appears to be 737K based on one show posted Friday only. But those numbers aren't reflected on the chart. The only way you get the numbers there - I think? - is by averaging the X posts that include the advertiser X post that's threaded on the bottom of an episode which gets like 75K views. Even then, the "after" is based on literally 2 posts. So that also makes no sense. (Of course, it also ignores that on October 7 Tucker had his best day of the past 2 weeks, but that was just conveniently left off.) A more accurate look would be on YouTube, but again the timeframe makes no sense and counts 3 episodes (including the viral debate with Mogg which has 2.2 million on YouTube and 2.9 million on X) vs. a single episode posted on a Friday - which still has significantly more views than one of the 3 "before" episodes on both YouTube and X, disproving the entire argument. Plus, the TC Network clips this week (during the "after" phase) are some of the top clips in the past month. This is simply a display of entirely media illiterate wishcasting and propaganda disguised as analysis that would be worth laughing at and scrolling by if it wasn't being promoted by somewhat normal people.
Following Ukrainian strikes on Russian data centers: Tucker Carlson's views dropped 71% Douglas Macgregor's views dropped 62% TCN views dropped 34%

I don’t publicly chirp at my friends on here and I demand that of them as well. It’s very simple. You can message me and cuss me out or disagree. Totally fine. You make it a spectator sport and we’re done forever. That’s my code.
