Nobody seems to dispute that we are in a norm regression w/ our domestic politics and governance and that it's bad for the nation. Instead of trying to slow or reverse it, though, there's a universal desire just to fight about who started it. It's childish.

This is not very much money. SLF is spending more than $50M. How much will be spent in this race? Now ask why anybody is thinking about AIPAC. Hmmm

I think of this a lot while reading endless tweets about the Michigan Senate race.
In the grand sweep of American history, it’s not normal or natural for someone from New York to care who the Senator from Kansas is

It can absolutely be both if the billionaires think it will not be a one time tax, even if they're wrong.
Replying to @gabriel_zucman
Either the tax is annual – and in that case it generates revenue annually, and some billionaires leave. Or the tax is one-time – in that case it generates revenue in just one year, and there is no incentive to leave. It can’t be both at the same time.

And this is almost certainly false given the other reporting on GPA thresholds: β€œThe lieutenant governor was nominated for Phi Beta Kappa, but like too many other students, she couldn’t afford the application fees to become a part of the honor society,” Alexandra Fetissoff, a campaign spokeswoman, said in a statement.>>

Short thread. One of my favorite films is Once Upon a Time in the West by Sergio Leone, scored by Ennio Morricone, who passed away today. I find that few people younger than me have seen this film. Also, there are too many people younger than me. youtu.be/ViEsSSDgO-s 1/x
