Gonna get hate, but… in comics, writing is as important as art. That doesn’t mean artists can’t do the writing themselves. It just means that whoever is doing the writing should be putting in as much work as any given person on the artistic team.

It’s honestly wild to me that anyone would disrespect someone’s time so much that they’d expect them to read an entire script or series bible. Execs are busy people and they are often bombarded with pitches. Do them (and yourself) a favor, and put together a concise pitch. If they like it, they may very well request a full script or bible. So, have both ready.

If you’re really good at drawing, that’s awesome! If you’re not also really good at writing, maybe you shouldn’t write your own comic book series. Writing is a craft that takes learning, practice, and attention to detail. Just like drawing. If you’re not as practiced at writing as you are at drawing, you’re doing the reader and your own art a disservice by writing subpar stories for yourself to draw. Get someone who’s as practiced in writing as you are in drawing.
