One of the most inspiring projects I have seen in H&I, but the sheer graft that went into this by @StrontianCSB alongside @CHTScotland shouldn't be underestimated. Needless to say, it shouldn't have been as hard as it was considering the goal and benefits.

Can this situation offer up an interesting approach to community benefit? Farmers, crofters, and local plant operators have a good reputation of putting machinery to community use when in position. Can this goodwill extend from utilities, bigger companies, etc?
So @ssencommunity you're going to dig up our school playground to lay a cable to another property & we think it's good opportunity to improve the surface.
But you say you can't offer us any support in this either cash, or kind (while your machine is *on site*)
Not a good look.

C'mon @ssencommunity, fairs fair - if your in doing a bit of work (and causing a wee bit of disruption) the having the contractor do a wee bit of extra landscaping is a proportionally tiny cost and a really good way to show the community values. A bit of the old Hydro spirit! – at Westhill, Scotland

That community benefit fund contributed another major project in the village, helping to fund it's new Community School building.
A further share offer also raised £155k for the building which now houses the local primary school.

I think you'd struggle to find somewhere that typifies the ethos of community shares better than Strontian, where residents have run two very successful share offers over the years.
ALT Outline map of Scotland with Strontian highlighted, text reads "Strontian community school building: Community members raised £155,000 in community shares to help fund the construction of a new school building, which will be leased to their local council and can be converted to social housing"
