It was a real privilege and pleasure to spend time with @ParkinsonsUK and the England Parkinson’s Football team this morning.
It was made really clear just how much of a difference exercise makes, not just from a physical perspective, but mentally and socially too.
It was a privilege to organise the UK Parliamentary Football Club’s fixture against the England Parkinson’s Football team (@ParkinsonsPride).
In a first for the club, we played two games of walking football, which took a moment or two for the Westminster folk to get the hang of.
Taking advantage, the England Parkinson’s team quickly put two away despite some excellent goalkeeping from Chris Bloore MP. A goal from Jack Abbott MP ended the first game 2-1.
After a stern team talk and a tactical rethink, the Parliamentarians came back to win the second game 4-0 with good goals from Jonathan Hinder MP and Club Captain Justin Madders MP.
It was fantastic to be joined by Parkinson’s UK and the England Parkinson’s Football team.
The UKPFC team learned a great deal about the remarkable work done by both organisations and the benefits of sport for those with Parkinson’s.
