the objective is painting the tape.

beijing manipulates he cross to ensure the wides are never reached, and for export boosterism and ideological reasons.
ever since the west seized the russian central bank's eurodollar deposits, they've been diversifying. they don't just buy treasuries anymore. hence the gold. or so you're told
turns out that over the last 18 months beijing officially bought 117 tons of gold. that's 78 tons a year, against a five-year average of 72. hardly a stampede.
but i'd wager the chinese authorities didn't much like gold at 6,000.
the price didn't get there because of their heavy-handed buying. it got there because of all the idiots on X who presume they'll buy more and more and more.
they won't.
i can assure you, the last thing beijing wants is a high gold price.
that brings scrutiny to their preposterously silly fiat.
you should know a golden rule of global macro. that within the crumbling citadel of fiat, the weakest, most vulnerable currencies are the fixed ones. brittle. they can't change, until they do. and then they change dramatically.
they don't want prying eyes like mine pointing that out that they got $53 trn of M2 and no knickers.
gold at 6,000? gold at 10,000?
your scenario, hallucinators. i can't say it doesn't happen. i can't say anything doesn't happen. what i can tell you, are the circumstances.
if it happens, it's when the renminbi peg breaks, if it breaks at all. and a billion chinese scramble to buy a gram of gold each.

Everyone bearish on ChatGPT and Claude is still pricing them like inference is expensive forever. Most useful tasks already run on cheap models, and that cost is heading towards zero. Once it does, these look a lot more like classic SaaS than people think. Near-zero marginal cost, recurring revenue, very sticky customers. The "AI can't have SaaS margins" argument has a shelf life.

I believe drug cheats in MMA should receive bans for life.
6-12 month suspensions for juice-heads like @alexandr_shabliy @movlid_khaybulaev is an abomination.
Year round, random + frequent testing (especially for past offenders) is required to keep this sport clean and most importantly- safe.
We put our lives on the line each time we get in that cage. We deserve a level playing field.
