It's official. For acute stroke treatment, Alteplase (tPA) is out, and Tenecteplase (TNK) is in. But why? And more importantly, why is it called TNK when there’s no “K” in Tenecteplase?? 🧵

Saw this in the BMj obituaries today. Not someone I have met but what an amazing and inspirational story. Achieved so much despite much adversity. Truly remarkable. RIP Allison.

Spare a minute for the U.K medical graduate. -Managed to get onto an incredibly competitive degree. -5/6 intense years study -Saddled with crippling student debt -Randomly allocated jobs at graduation, with no control or agency -End up separated from support networks 1/3
Replying to @ZuFutureSurgeon
U.K. graduates are essentially the only group who are not prioritised in a single country in the world

- Never start a procedure or cannula etc with a full bladder. - Be respectful to all and expect the same level of respect in return. - Book a holiday asap. - Don’t stop doing things that make you happy or make you who you are outside of work. - enjoy! #TipsForNewDocs

Completely astonishing that #BREATHTAKING has been the no. 1 trending item on here for the whole of the UK ever since last night - & still is now. This is the conversation we hoped to start. Confronting the trauma - what patients, families, NHS & care staff all endured 💔

#iwillWeek23 has started - celebrating the 10th birthday of @iwill_movement: a movement I'm increasingly proud of in its drive and style to connect young people across the UK, offer them agency and action. Their beating hearts deconstructing systems in the process.

Junior doctor *annual leave* entitlement Many rota co'ordinators assume that CT/ST1/2/3s have <5 years NHS service and are only entitled to 27 days AL per yr. If you have >5 years service as a result of switching specialties, working LTFT.... 1/3

Behind the numbers, there are human beings with human stories. Thaer just wanted to save his 4 yr old son who has leukaemia. Thaer was amongst the 750 humans on the boat many of whom tragically died when it capsized in the Mediterranean Sea. Remember his name: Thaer. – at Lambeth, London
Gutted. Thaer al-Rahal was one of 750 migrants who boarded a trawler & ended up in one of the Mediterranean's deadliest shipwrecks. He needed to get to Europe to earn money to save his 4 yr old Khalid, who has leukemia & needs a bone marrow transplant. Thaer did not survive. 💔

A message for anyone seeking maternity care in the next 72 hours: Hospitals will be safe. You and your baby will not be put at risk. You should still seek help if you have any concerns about your baby or yourself via the usual channels.

hey #MedStudentTwitter. There will be lots who didn’t get top choice. I didn’t- the shock of my whole life being turned upside down was awful. However, here I am, in my 7th deanery. Loving it 🥰 Have a cry - eat all the comfort food - know you’ll be amazing.

I keep seeing stat amlodipine for acute HTN in hospital. This is a bad choice right? It takes a week or so to reach an effective steady state? Or am I going insane?

Twas the night before rotation and the juniors were sleeping Dreaming of new rotas that are more sanity keeping Their scrubs were laid out, creased and stained everywhere Whilst lunch was pre-made to avoid canteen scares They were mourning old teams, familiar routines they knew-
