Pichi will likely need a dental procedure to remove all of his teeth, a full mouth extraction. He has started eating again with a course of steroids to help with the inflammation, but this is not a permanent fix and is not ideal in the shelter. Pichirilo would do best outside of the shelter environment with individualized care and a quiet place to recover. Behaviorally, he is tense but allows all handling. This evaluation/diagnosis means that PICHIRILO will be given very little time for rescue/foster/adoption.π₯π₯π₯π₯

I am a sweet, social, older gal, looking for the perfect forever home! I love getting pets and - you guessed it - snuggles! Need some biscuits for your breakfast? I'm an expert kneader! Creamsicle tolerates attention and petting but appears to be moderately fearful or stressed in the shelter. She will likely need time to warm up to her new home. He needs short term care in a veterinary clinic to regulate his insulin and then out-patient management in a quiet home. Behaviorally, Ned is curious, leans in for pets, will rollover, and remains calm when picked up. NOT EATING IS A DEATH SENTENCE IN THE SHELTER. This evaluation/diagnosis means that NED will be given very little time for rescue/foster/adoption.π₯π₯π₯π₯
A volunteer writes: Ned is a handsome charcoal and silver semi long haired gent with golden eyes surrendered to us as his family could not afford his care anymore. Indeed, gorgeous Ned has diabetes mellitus(DM) on Insulin for the last seven months. He comes with lovely comments: quiet, friendly, lovable, playful, enjoys brushing...just a bit shy with new situations..Ned was a little weary in his first few days at the care center but as he is a smart and intuitive kitty, he revealed himself to be a sweet patient and a lovely pet to spend time with. A bonus, he is sooo beautiful and petting his smokey coat feels so soft to the touch....Ned is already neutered and aced his behavior evaluation. Ned is right now being evaluated and treated at the Manhattan Care Center for his DM. We are hoping that his condition will soon be well-controled, allowing Ned to go to his new home. He is a great cat who so deserves your attention and a great home! What my friends at ACC say about me: I lived with children in my previous home. I have lived with cats in my previous home. The exclamation points are his bit of flair allowing him to stand out in a busy shelter and model his skills. In Chessboard's own way, he is really good but a cat like Chessboard has a tendency to start conversations in the middle and expect that everyone else is following along. Chessboard was found alone in an apartment and so we don't know much about what his world looked like before, but we do know shelter life has come with its expected ups and downs. Still Chessboard keeps searching to find a patient family who will listen to his kitty pronouncements with the wonder and joy he gives them with. β€οΈ π»β€οΈ π»β€οΈ π»
