Okay, deep breath. Let's have the uncomfortable conversation. 🧘 Dan Lanning is 48-8 at Oregon. He's won a Big Ten title. He's taken the Ducks to back-to-back College Football Playoffs. And yet... here we are. Those two playoff trips ended 41-21 (Ohio State, Rose Bowl) and 56-22 (Indiana, Peach Bowl). Average margin: 27 points. Both games were over by halftime. This season: a 39-31 loss at Oklahoma State in September. A 17-15 loss to UCLA at Autzen today — backup quarterback looking lost, 272 yards of total offense. So I'll ask it: should Dan Lanning's job be in jeopardy? Or is this just what it looks like when a great program has a brutal month? If USC continues to disappoint, there is loud buzz building around Kalen DeBoer being their top target to replace Lincoln Riley. Although Riley has a massive buyout, frustrations have reached a boiling point in LA. DeBoer stayed at Alabama last year, but USC could make him go.
