ALT Silent years so aimless pass As grains seep through the hourglass. Life is bustle, much to do, Youth evaporates like dew. Slow down, slow down and take a breath, A quiet moment, still as death. Deep within has spirit ached Like desert thirst so long unslaked. Vivid I recall your eyes Dancing, laughing stars of blue, Playful grin that lights my way, Gentle kiss for which I pray. So long lost in misty tomes Wave that over salt sea foams. Dusty mem’ry my heart hears Evokes the salty gentle tears. In candle flame your spirit breathes, Comforting as incense seethes. Wings of monarchs draw you home, To cempasúchil attar’s dome. Food and drink now to refresh, And water sweet cools borrowed flesh. Gentle music, lost in trance, One last lonely phantom dance. Our love was e’er unshakable, The spoken vows unbreakable, Down through long ages love remains, Echoed in my soul’s refrains. All too soon returns the light And calls your soul agai
