There’s a lot riding on CLAYFACE for DC as it drops in 3,575 theaters this weekend. This is the wild card of James Gunn’s new universe.
If it bombs, that’s two strikes in a row (following SUPERGIRL) with SUPERMAN amounting to a ground-rule double. And then what? Outside of MAN OF TOMORROW, DC has no other new-universe film officially dated or greenlit. Wonder Woman, Swamp Thing and Teen Titans remain in early development.
CLAYFACE isn’t just another release. It’s basically a referendum on whether audiences are interested in Gunn’s wider DC Universe... or only kinda Superman. Not exactly what you would call a super start.
The source they're quoting explicitly says it's not a Man of Tomorrow set lmaoooo
BREAKING: Man of Tomorrow is set to get a Daily Planet LEGO set!!!
Rumored characters include: Superman/Clark Kent, Lex Luthor, Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen, Hawkgirl, Supergirl, Guy Gardner, Mr. Terrific, Metamorpho, Brainiac, and a mystery character.

#ClayfaceMovie: That's 0-3 for me with the new DCU. You can tell this was originally intended to be a streaming release, given the rushed pacing and lackluster presentation. I did vibe with the body horror elements and the yearning for connection as you slowly lose control of yourself, which reminded me of some of the classic Universal monster films. However, the final product is a villain origin story that might have been better suited as an HBO Max miniseries. At least then, there would have been more room to explore its themes beyond the thin, surface level stuff we got here.

“For all its transformations, Clayface never becomes a movie worth watching.”

Everyone forgetting Netflix telling congress Superman went to digital so quick because it had a soft theatrical performance is very funny
But they want to you believe it made 125 million lol

I actually want to watch Clayface but my agenda is to not watch any DCU content until my Gunn fan/Snyder hater mutuals watch the Director's Cuts of Rebel Moon and give them a fair and unbiased review on their platforms like they would want me to do with my platform for the DCU.
It's going to be so funny when, in a couple weeks, the discourse will be that "Clayface was never supposed to be profitable but just to prove what DC Studio could do", especially considering how they're already down something like $250M factoring in both Superman and Supergirl 💫

Seeing “A Skydance Corporation” attached to the WB Pictures logo at the end was the most frightening image CLAYFACE bears. We have THE SUBSTANCE and THE FLY at home ahh movie.
