Dave Aranda gave Baylor football its single greatest season going 12-2 in 2021. But the program never capitalized on that momentum as the transfer portal hit college football, or NIL nearly soon enough. Dave Aranda is a great man and I wish him the best moving forward. #SicEm #CFB

Exhibition Games do not count, but if they did, Baylor would be projected to be the top overall seed in the NCAA Tournament. Bears have now beaten both Illinois and Florida away from Waco. Incredible momentum right now for Scott Drew's team.

LSU should NOT be ranked!
bit.ly/4pqFxV8 Georgia takes over at No. 1 while Texas tumbles and Oregon drops out in the AP Top 25. See where your team landed.

Call me crazy, but I would love to see a collab between @TheFP and @BitterSouth. Both have an amazing design aesthetic and take alternative approaches to relevant topics. Just a Sunday morning thought as I sit here and ready the TGIF column.

So sick of College Gameday and the little jabs they take at the rest of College Football. Pat McAfee: “I’m taking Sacramento State over Bowling Green, I know nothing about either of these teams!” Herbstreit: “Fresno State over Boise State. Is this a conference game? Oh yeah, PAC 12 I think.” Your job is literally to be the experts on ALL of college football, not just the SEC.

This is the last critical piece of the spectrum puzzle needed for SpaceX to provide complete phone coverage in America
AT&T CEO: Starlink Mobile won’t be able to penetrate walls. SpaceX: We’ve acquired 800 MHz spectrum, which will allow Starlink Mobile to provide better indoor coverage, including signals that can penetrate walls and other obstacles. People are underestimating Starlink Mobile.

SpaceX has just officially announced two major milestones for @Starlink Mobile, bringing it one step closer to becoming a full-fledged mobile carrier in the U.S. 1) SpaceX has reached an agreement to acquire nationwide 800 MHz spectrum, which will allow Starlink Mobile to provide better indoor coverage, including signals that can penetrate walls and other obstacles. 2) The FCC has approved SpaceX's next-generation Starlink Mobile constellation of 15,000 satellites, which will deliver over 100x more bandwidth than its current satellites, enabling high-speed internet directly to regular smartphones worldwide. Once approved by the FCC, SpaceX plans to combine its satellite network with terrestrial infrastructure to create a seamless mobile network that works indoors, outdoors, and in cellular dead zones.

The hottest phone in America right now is a $100 landline with no screen. Tin Can launched in April 2025, sold out batch after batch, and has moved hundreds of thousands of units. Greylock led their $12M seed in December. The three founders came out of a Seattle real estate startup that shut down the year before. The product is anti-tech. The growth engine is pure Silicon Valley. Calls between Tin Cans are free. Calling regular phone numbers runs about $8 a month per line. So every family that buys one immediately starts recruiting other families, because the phone gets more useful and cheaper with every friend who joins. A referral loop, dressed up as a toy. Then they went after schools. Tin Can gave 300 families at one school free phones. In week one those kids logged 1,500 calls and 75 hours of talk time. The average kid in that community now has close to 30 Tin Can contacts, and kids there have called each other 29 of the last 30 days. The lock-in works on parents too. Once your kid's entire friend group is on Tin Can, you're not canceling, and you're in no rush to hand them an iPhone either. Tin Can figured out the stickiest part of a smartphone is the friend list. They kept the friend list and threw out everything else.
The Tin Can maybe be the best gift I’ve ever given my children. They’re little WiFi telephones. Kids get their own phone number, but I control all access through the app. My little boys can call me, mommy, grandparents, each other, and 911. That’s it. (And those are the only numbers that can call them. Totally safe.) $8/mo per line. Easy peasy. Love it for a few reasons: • Random phone calls from your little ones at work is life giving • They can stay in touch with their grandparents, and surprise them with calls • They have a way to call 911. Like most houses, we’re cell phone only these days. Having this method for them to contact grandparents or 911 for an emergency is a comfort. No affiliation to them. Just love the product and wanted to share.
