LineageOS is a free, open-source alternative to stock Android. It lets you use your phone without Google services pre-installed, and the project is about to turn 10.
This new version brings:
🔹Latest security updates
🔹A new built-in photo editor
🔹Faster system updates
🔹An easier way to install it on some phones directly from your browser
🔹Support for both recent and older devices
It’s a practical option if you want more control over your phone and prefer to avoid the default Google experience.

Let it die... let decades old, community developed open source software die for a clone that probably won't even exist in six months of time?
Two different kinds of open source software coexist. One doesn't have to die to make way for another.

Thank you very much for giving #SonicDE a try! We've added the "sonic-switch.sh" for easy installation on #ArchLinux sonicde-arch.github.io. So less typing in your box and more time to enjoy SonicDE. ;-)
Let's install SonicDE on Arch to keep Xorg in Plasma!

Thanks to @doctorow for drawing attention to my article for @fsf about #RaspberryPi punishing folks who upgrade their hardware 👇
Restrictions on hardware upgrades are deeply troubling from an organization like Raspberry Pi that has stated their commitment to longevity as a guiding principle: u.fsf.org/4cq #FreeSoftware #DRM #FSF

Welcome back to the ConsumerRights.Wiki Hall of Shame. This week, we are shaming John Deere and the high-stakes battle over software ownership and the Right to Repair.
You buy the tractor, but they keep the keys. While a historic July 2026 FTC settlement forces John Deere to share repair software, DMCA loopholes mean farmers still own the iron, not the code.

Hundreds of homes are receiving code enforcement warnings as AI cameras on trash trucks spy on and report houses to the city when the trucks drive by for trash pickup
This comes on the heels of a nationwide debate on privacy issues related to Flock and other ALPR cameras

14 Flock cameras were installed without anyone's knowledge in St. Lucie County, Florida.
No one knows how the cameras got there.
Clearly, Flock is selling the data, which also means Flock is lying about what it does with the data (again).

LibreOffice has declared that “no AI is now a feature” of the open source office suite.
Though the developers are leaving the door open to possible AI integration in the future… under the right conditions.
“[This does] not amount to a definitive rejection,” they said in a statement. “Should an approach [to integrating AI into LibreOffice] emerge that meets all the conditions, we will evaluate it very carefully.”
