第1回：ケンシロウが包帯を巻いていた理由
原「最初はヒット作品の王道的な主人公のスタイルを意識していたんだよね。『マッドマックス』のメル・ギブソンや、車田正美先生の漫画に登場する包帯を巻いたキャラクターが印象に残っていて、主人公らしいスタイルにするために取り入れたんだと思う。今考えると『なんで包帯を巻いてるんだ？』ってなるけど（笑）。」

“At first, I was aiming for the classic, standard style of a protagonist. Mel Gibson in Mad Max, and characters wearing bandages in Masami Kurumada-sensei's manga, really left an impression on me. I think I incorporated that look to give him that quintessential main-character style. Looking back on it now, though, you kind of wonder, 'Why is he even wearing bandages?' (laughs).”

Makes so much sense that Tetsuya Chiba did not like drawing blood. Ashita No Joe has some of the most affecting violence I've ever seen in any medium. It's often glorious & exciting, but it's always gut wrenching too! You never forget the price they are paying with their bodies!
