ICYMI: DPS Recruit Karina Legarreta recently received a Medal of Valor from @TCOLE for her actions while serving as an Alpine Police Department Officer. The Medal of Valor is presented to an individual for an act of heroism and bravery — and Recruit Legarreta was recognized for her actions in March 2023 when she was dispatched to a house fire and ultimately helped pull a man out of the burning structure. Recruit Legarreta’s actions saved a life that day, and we are proud to have her as a member of Recruit School B-2025. #ProtectAndServe

Last week we had the incredible opportunity of having our Honor Guard and Chaplain lead the opening ceremonies at the @TCOLE meeting in Austin. Commander Griffith, Commander Bone, Sergeant Vrana, Corporal Waters, and Officer Leathers did an outstanding job showcasing the excellence we strive for at the Kyle Police Department. Thank you all for your dedication and commitment to representing our department so well.

Fentanyl caused thousands of overdoses in Texas in recent years with an estimated 2,300 people losing their lives to fentanyl poisonings in 2023. Stay safe, know that street and counterfeit drugs may be tainted with lethal doses of this insidious opiate.

As we start the week, we are filled with gratitude for the new Troopers who graduated and joined our ranks last week. These men and women spent 30 weeks at the DPS Academy preparing for their lives as DPS Troopers — and they are ready to take on their roles as public servants.
