Rich and Dennis tell it like it is when it comes to Villanova’s exit of the Big 5. Really good listen as always.

An absolute must-read interview with Temple AD Arthur Johnson regarding Kevin Willard’s Big 5 presser
-Villanova would not budge on their NET proposal to rank based on previous season final rankings, not even a discussion. Included even less games than the existing condensed format
-Villanova also demanded merit based revenue distribution from the triple header
-If the other schools were signed off on the Villanova proposal, they easily would’ve left Temple out. All ADs agreed with Johnson, against Villanova
Complete embarrassment for @KevinWillard and @NovaMBB to sit on that podium and spew disingenuous BS about the Big 5
Temple AD Arthur Johnson didn’t know he wields as much power in Big 5 circles as Kevin Willard seems to think. "I didn't realize I had that kind of power," says Johnson. "Or call it influence. I didn't know I had become an influencer." 247sports.com/college/temple…
So SLU just got even better and should be the favorite to win the A10. I still don’t follow how they can get around the roster limit though.

A column on Kevin Willard, who embarrassed himself and #Villanova:

One thing being overlooked is how good Anthony Finkley was in A10 play as a sophomore, especially in the second half of conference play. His underlying analytics were on par with Des Watson and Zed Key during that period. If he can play at that level, it’ll be huge for La Salle.
Last thing I’ll say about the Big 5: Nova’s proposed format was clearly not in good faith. It is what it is at this point. Willard has shown a lack of character and respect across the board. Time to move on and focus on the season. Hopefully, some well deserved payback is coming.
This!
I don’t want to pile on the guy given today’s news, or speak out of line for a man’s character, but does Kevin Williard even care about charity? Does he care about anyone beating cancer?
His absence from today’s Coaches vs. Cancer preseason luncheon is louder than any article or press conference possible.
Who cares about some basketball games if at the end of the day we forget what’s really important?
TELL EM COACH
La Salle coach Darris Nichols on Villanova exiting the Big 5's current format:
"You can focus on change, but the college landscape is changing every day at a fast pace. So, you know, I’m more excited about the teams that still want to be a part of this.”

He thinks he’s being clever with this but it’s pretty obvious he’s just bothered. No different than the discourse when he quit on Maryland. An emotionally weak coach.
“Everyone else is doing it, so why can’t we?” is such a pathetic mentality. Maybe don’t sign ineligible players?
Unfortunately, I don’t think Villanova will play SJU again. Them not being in the same Big 5 pods multiple times felt intentional but that’s only a hunch. SJU should make every attempt to play a game at Nova and call them out publicly when they decline.
We all knew this was coming at some point, especially with Jay Wright long gone but I hope Villanova still decides to play a Big 5 game now and then. I also never want to hear anyone call Villanova a Philly school. They never were and they definitely aren’t now.
Putting my A10 preseason rankings on the record. Fordham top 4 and La Salle mid tier escaping the pillow fight.

City of basketball love never disappoints. Really good read here and some insight into how the offseason has gone for the each of the Philly kids.
.@LaSalle_MBB will bring a lot of homegrown talent this season with the additions of @devbooker0 (@CRPHS_Athletics) & @Antfink5 (@RomanBasketball) plus the welcoming of highly regarded prospect @RJ1SMITH1.
My @hooplove215 story on the @GoExplorers trio: cityofbasketballlove.com/new…
Overall a pretty fair assessment for La Salle. I’m biased so I think they have more versatility at the 1-4 especially compared to others in the league. Plus a good bit of the league doesn’t have someone as proven and talented as Dockery. Can’t wait for the season to start.

The timing of this is peculiar and I would have thought they wait on a decision towards the end of this season. We will see if more details come out but could actually be a friendly deal for both sides.
NEWS: St. Joe's Steve Donahue has received a five-year contract extension through the 2030-31 season, according to multiple sources.
