Thank you for your leadership on this piece of legislation. We need to ensure internationally trained physicians can earn US credentials and get back to caring for patients.

Every physician's journey is unique, but every success story reminds us why we do what we do.
We're grateful to Dr. Wessam for sharing her experience and trusting WeAreDocs to be part of her journey back to patient care.

IMGs should never be Divided. Both visa requiring and non visa requiring. There are not enough doctors in the United States and politicians are solving this by expanding the scopes of APPs. The solution is more residency spots and alternative pathways to licensing.

Even if they failed multiple times and their credentials are questionable?
Hiring people who do not need visas is always easier for programs, unless that interferes with real merit and tanks program reputation by lowering board passing rates, on which programs are judged.
US MDs get preference even if they are mediocre because they carry debt. Unless they have professional issues or glaring red flags, they get priority.
US IMGs are different. Yes, they are citizens, but they attended medical school outside the US. Some are brilliant, some are not. Some attended recognized schools, some did not. Some pass boards easily, some failed multiple times.
Are you for merit, or for preferential treatment in your doctor selection?

Across the U.S., many states are creating alternative licensing pathways for experienced IMGs.
These pathways do not remove standards. They create supervised bridges for qualified doctors trained abroad.
This is not lowering the bar. It is expanding access to care.
