Before I begin, I want you guys to remember that The Loyal Pin takes place in 1950’ Thailand. Any behaviors or expectations that feel outdated today are the result of the historical context, not a reflection of how we view relationships now.
I will not be analyzing every love scene. I watched through all of them this afternoon and selected the ones that best support the argument I want to make regarding their queer intimacy dynamic. These include key turning points such as their first time together, Anil’s return, and the punishment scene.
Unlike my GAP analysis, where I broke down every scene first and then explained Khun Sam and Mon’s Solo dynamic at the end, I am starting here by establishing the solo dynamic between Anil and Pin. For me, this drama comes close to perfection in every single category: cinematography, directing, acting, episode count, plot, vintage costumes, makeup, hairstyles, chemistry, intimacy, kissing, and NC scenes.
P.S. I also have a suspicion that Freen clearly prefers playing the "bottom" role. 😂 Guess being kissed, cuddled, babied, spoiled, cared for, and pounded by Becbe... ahem, Princess Anil, against every horizontal surface in 1950s Thailand excited her far more than playing any of her modern "top" characters ever could...
