Bringing T&TVBKA’s event scheduling into the 21st century with The Events Calendar. Easy to use and plain to see. Thanks to @TheEventsCal .
Hard times for drones. Is it that time of year already?
Just the bottom five supers are filled with honey. I only put the top BB on today - that’s for next years’ drawn comb. I’m tweeting this as if I had anything at all to do with it - just a bystander really.

Heard a virgin tooting today but I didn't have the presence of mind to record it. It's one of the lesser known methods of communications amongst honey bees. Here's a fascinating article about it theapiarist.org/tag/queen-pi…
Hi Folks, not long now to our Open Day. Come along, get some tea and cake and learn about bees, honeybees and beekeeping.
An aspect of beekeeping they don’t tell you about - mowing the apiary. A bit scruffy but as close as I could get to the hives with a bulky mower. Tomorrow, dealing with an overstuffed nuc.
After an absence of two years The TTVBKA Open Day is back. Local honey for sale. Tell all your friends.
Last year we were struggling to have enough colonies. What a difference a year makes.

I reckon it was the better weather (mild rather than cold and wet) coming out of winter this year. That and the Qs are a year older so swarmed more readily.
Swarms end up so often in the same tree I might get a staircase built.

SWARM MONDAY: in apiary this a.m. Casually looking around found swarm up usual tree. Recovered it. Meanwhile another swarm issued from different hive but returned. Hmmm, need to look at QC policy.
Lime trees in flower in abundance #BushyPark #Teddington the smell is divine so imagine the honey! 🍯🐝🌳🐝🌳🐝
Honey bees loving the Borage which is like a giant triffid!
Lovely to see the crocus and snowdrops flowering. Important early pollen source.
Please have your say to save our pollinators from relaxation of pesticide regulations consult.defra.gov.uk/pestici…
Officers visited @ParkLaneStables this morning as part of their Safer Parks Patrols. It’s a Riding for the Disabled Association(RDA) centre who use #BushyPark Always a pleasure, hopefully we can visit in the future 🤞🏻
