Friday afternoon 📖 🚨: Our new @JMIPublicPolicy Policy Insights Paper. We investigate what state gvts can do to improve gendered labour market gaps & inequalities. Was great working with JMI colleagues, NSW public servants & of course @ElizabethHill00 @TalaraLee @suneha_seetahul – at Sydney, New South Wales
"What happens in the NSW economy and labour market matters for the nation."
Today JMI marks International Women’s Day with the publication of our latest Policy Insights Paper “Building a more equitable future of work for women in NSW: Opportunities for government action," authored by @Sydney_Uni researchers @ElizabethHill00 , @Raecooper1 , @TalaraLee, and @suneha_seetahul .
The result of a JMI Policy Challenge Grant, the report sets out five key areas of government policy, operations and investment that can be leveraged to drive gender equality across the labour market in NSW.

Excellent account of gender inequalities in paid work, what drives them, and the ways that state governments can address them.

Rather than addressing sexual harassment one offender at a time, orgs need to address systemic causes: masculinity contest cultures (avoiding displays of weakness, emphasizing strength, long hrs, unreasonable risks, dog-eat-dog competition). @LiliaCortina
