What is a proton made of? Early scattering experiments probing the substructure of the proton found an interesting result. Instead of being made just from point-like particles (quarks), there seemed to be more going on inside the proton A🧵1/6

Honored that my Hybrid Short Story "Corrido" is in @HungerMtn #30! Teen Rabbit lead singer Alejandra Hernandez, sprung from S.F. City Jail by resistance fighters, is asked to make an agitprop holo to oppose the dictator. But Alex has other ideas ... hngrmtn.org/issues/hunger-mo…

I thought getting my paper out was the hardest thing. No, this was the hardest thing I have ever done: science.org/content/article/… I've been asked to look away, to let it remain in the shadows, but I am happy I put my foot down. Huge thanks go out to my supervisor @PerAhlberg1 !

An artist’s take on how the Webb images are being processed and how that taps our cultural imagination ...
Artist here with some thoughts on the amazing JWST images. There’s a lot going on in these images that prompt us non-astronomers to be affected by them in ways that are both particular and powerful. A thread… ⤵️

The public are excited by the images, but astronomers are as excited by the spectra, like this one. I want to talk about why
Startling. These @NASAWebb images are sinking in. If we can see objects so far away and so far back in time with this clarity, imagine, too, the acuity with which we might see nearer objects. A Big Historian might imagine that new unforeseen possibilites will emerge ...

WEBB Deep field image. Seen from Earth, per NASA, an area of the sky the size of a grain of sand held at arm's length. All those dots are not stars, but GALAXIES, each one billions of stars. This is 13 billion light years away - so the light is from 13 billion years back in time.

#MayThe4thBeWithYou Star Wars has a long association with Pleistocene megafauna. AT-ATs are based on Paraceratherium, Ephant Mon is based on Platybelodon, and the Mandalorian's mudhorn is based on Elasmotherium. starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Mud…
