I notice that the learned editors of _The Library_ have set my recent article to be downloadable for free, for the time being: academic.oup.com/library/art…
So, if you are interested in medieval libraries or John Fastolf or the role of Latin, there's some reading awaiting you.
Today was my day to take stock of what I have published recently:

With the greatest pride I present:
For over two years, the #OG_H_AM project, with the expert support of Daniel Bălteanu (Communications Office, @MaynoothUni) has been producing an info video about the ogam script and ogam texts.
It was launched yesterday:

Scribe in 1470 writes 'turn over' and 'turn over the page'. Planning the lay-out is difficult! This is probably the first neat (presentation/promotion?) copy of a Middle Dutch translation of #Boethius De consolatione philosophiae, by Bruges goldsmith Jacob Vilt. @UniUtrechtLib

It doesn't happen every day you're allowed to (or have reason to) handle such a precious medieval binding.

One of the most dangerous enemies of #manuscripts is dust: It provides nesting material for insects and is an incubator for mould spores. The new episode of our video series on #Nepalese manuscripts deals with appropriate cleaning measures.

The #teachingcodex blog is back! Committee member @DowsMillerSeb has adapted his presentation from our workshop in May so that we can share it with all of you! All together: 'Don't mention the punctuation!' teachingthecodex.com/2024/07…

Our colleagues arrive in Puducherry @ifp_india and @EFEO_Paris today to start examining historical palm-leaf #manuscripts in our Container Lab. Our local partners have built a superb palm roof over it to protect it from the heat: It's now all set and stays there until late 2025

Now we're hearing from Andrew Honey, book conservator at the @bodleianlibs #teachingcodex
Are we too close to books to think that they're physical objects as well? #teachingcodex
Next up in the #teachingcodex round table is @MatthewHolford, Tolkien Curator of Medieval Manuscripts
We teach with real MSS, not facsimiles. Are there occasions when facsimiles or reproductions might expose students to more questions of materiality without such intensive use of resources like library time? #teachingcodex
Now it’s time for our #teachingcodex round table feat @HLaehnemann @olde_bookes @MatthewHolford, Andrew Honey, and chaired by our co-founder Tristan Franklinos
#teachingcodex Students work with modern editions rather than physical MSS. These might smooth over OR bring to fore hybridity. Encourage students to see how it's constituted.
Our final #teachingcodex presentation for this panel is from Laure Miolo on 'Teaching with manuscripts and instruments'. She's brought an astrolabe with her!
#teachingcodex Teaching with MSS and instruments is necessary for history of science and to contextualise MSS. Sheds light on many aspects of medieval scientific practice. Introduce students to science of stars and scientific MSS
Our next speaker is @sian_witherden, talking on 'Teaching hybridity with blog posts'. Sian works now in the rare books trade.
#teachingcodex Blog posts can help demystify book history!
Our next presentation is from our own @DowsMillerSeb and it's called 'Don't mention the punctuation! Introducing materiality to text-based teaching contexts'. Seb works primarily on Old French. #teachingcodex
#teachingcodex For more advanced medieval papers, we can use awareness of MS context to explain eg why certain texts are read in which order. Engagement with material increases engagement with context.
