I’m a boomer and don’t know how to use X properly so this thread is all messed up, but my first few hours with the iPhone Duo have left me… confused and relatively disappointed 🤷‍♂️
Using the iPhone Duo is a truly bizarre experience. Not intuitive at all, and so many weird quirks. Here are a few things that stand out: [Thread]

The iPhone Duo *really* doesn’t like being in a half-folded state, especially when you’re touching & swiping. Glitches, crashes, etc. I also have no idea why you would want to use it like this because the apps aren’t formatted to work in a unique half-folded way?

The camera app on iPhone Duo doesn’t have a consistent portrait vs. landscape layout. In portrait, the layout is as-expected. But in landscape, some of the icons, text, buttons are portrait, and some are landscape. And they swipe conflicting portrait & landscape ways ???

The “Portrait” Split View multitasking that’s been shown is just a floating video on top of an app, but it doesn’t function as Split View multitasking at all. It’s a unique 50/50ish Portait top/bottom layout, but it’s not the same feature as Split View

There is no Portrait Split View multitasking. At all. Not supported on the iPhone Duo currently

You can’t open Split View multitasking from the multitasking / multi-window page. You have to be *in an app* first. So Split View multitasking is always: Open App -> Enter Split View -> Open Second App

There is no “resizing” of the apps in Split View multitasking with iPhone Duo. The apps retain the 50/50 size, or the app you pull over nearly full-screen just auto-opens full screen and closes the other app. So many people show “resizing” and that’s just not a feature.

Android is the answer if you want a foldable. Anything from the last 2-3 years. Playing with the Duo feels like using a pre-production device right now

Taking offers starting at $10,000. Line begins here. 🤑
They said it couldn’t be done. Yet we remain undefeated 😤 iPhone Duo in-hand. The 9am - 10am pick-up time had like 50 people in line when I left. Spread across the whole day, my store probably had 150+ in stock. But as of now, they’re basically all claimed for reservations.

So glad it worked out for you! Even the first few people in line were nervous about getting a phone lol Seems like they had plenty for the initial dedicated crowd.

No dedicated reservation line. All walk-ins (at least until 7am when I left) They gave walk-in people times to come back later and had them pick color & GB. I’ll be back at 9am Some color/GB combos were sold out when they got me ~40th in line. Unlikely to be any inventory left

Kid next to me had an iPhone 17 Pro he was trading in. Two guys next to him had Pro Maxes they were gaming on. The person first in line was an Apple Corporate employee with an iPhone & MacBook set up, typing away.

Strange pre-order situation for sure. They limit in-store pick-up time slots for pre-order, but for walk-ins they gave people pick-up time slots to come back later in the morning…after waiting since 4am, 3am, etc. My store certainly had 50 - 100 units. Why do it this way?

Seems like in the end - depending on market - Apple dramatically limited store pick up pre-orders in favor of walk-in inventory. Have also heard some stores holding back inventory (or getting more shipments) for Saturday. In terms of today, 50-200 units on average I’d say.

Town Square in Las Vegas. Got in line a little after 4:30am. 30-40 people in front of me. Definitely 100-150 people by 7am. At 7am, the employees came out to take people’s color & GB preference and gave them a pick-up time for later in the day. Certainly had 50+ in-stock

iPhone Duo update: we got one! Well, we got a 9:15am pick-up time for one. They seemed to have at least 40-50 in stock, maybe more. I’ll be back in 2 hours after a nap & breakfast lol

I was dumb enough to stand in line at 4am for a phone. Newsworthy, for sure lmao
