I blame Africa sha. If African economies were beneficial to their citizens and looking out for their wellbeing, they wouldn’t have the need to sought out in foreign countries that don’t regard them as equal human beings. I hate this so much.

parental responsibility must always be part of the conversation. that isn’t to say parents are solely responsible for who their children become, but their role cannot be overlooked

social environments and other external factors play a role too. but from a juvenile justice perspective, i think we have to look at those early influences, the behaviours they shape and how those behaviours are addressed

in some cases, patterns of behaviour that go unaddressed in childhood can carry into adulthood and contribute to repeat offending. we need to look at the bigger picture, not just the behavior/incident in isolation.

i wouldn’t say it starts there. school is where you may see it play out, but the roots can go much deeper. home, parenting, the environment a child grows up in, and what they’re taught about how to treat other people.

BULLYING in schools is the foundation of many adult behavioral problems today. It really starts from there. It should be treated with a very heavy hand.

and that’s why i think addressing bullying has to go beyond punishing the behaviour at school. we have to look at what is producing and reinforcing that behaviour in the first place.
