Go team! #betterplanningforfuturefire
Back on Kangaroo Island SA for the working week, alongside @pyro_ct and the @TenRivers team. The local grass trees are sending up post-fire flower spikes taller than I have ever seen
Couldn’t have said it any better 👍
“We have to figure out how to more sustainably live with increasing fire,” @DrBalch said, like more controlled burning during wetter conditions to remove fuel. cpr.org/2020/08/20/colorado-…

A rather bumpy but enjoyable ride to Kangaroo Island to help KI Council with their bushfire mgmt. needs w. @_lauragannon_ as a co-collaborator. Especially important given the devastating 19/20 summer bushfire season, very pleasing to be able to provide solutions to #FutureFire

QFES is prepared, are you? Today marks the official start of Queensland’s bushfire season for 2020.
With more than 100 structures lost and countless resources utilised, let’s take a look back at what we faced last season.

Since the summer bushfires we have been working as part of the Vic Govt response to help our environment recover.
Recovery is a long journey & we're only just taking the first steps. #WorldEnvironmentDay

Our environment endured a big few months as bushfires raged this summer. From rehoming fish, to seedbanks & aerial food drops, the 17.5 million Bushfire Biodiversity Response and Recovery funding has been put to many uses #ForNature: wildlife.vic.gov.au/home/bio… #WorldEnvironmentDay

We wholeheartedly support #WomenInSTEM and days like today to celebrate and promote such initiatives! We can proudly say that we are at 45-55% females-to-males across our workforce!
Today is the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. 👩🔬
We like to promote our female STEM superstars. This is Jess Melbourne-Thomas, climate scientist, 2020 Tasmanian Australian of the Year winner and Australian of the Year nominee. 🥇

Well done Greg!
Not many people achieve 40 years of service with one company, and Greg Hansen is likely the only person to ever have a BBQ named in his honour. Congratulations Greg, for this milestone, and your work ethic. Read more: bit.ly/2N0ozw5 #hereforapurpose

Dr Cuong Tran presenting on Day 3 of #FireCon2019 on fire management practices in Australia, including Traditional Owner Fire management and the injection of cultural burning on country, with a focus on Minjerribah off the SEQ Coast @pyro_ct
His paper alongside Allyson Williams in the mid 90s adds further gravitas to this pioneering work in the 1980s. It remains a seminal piece of work. Sadly it’s playing out to these predictions. Ignore the warning signs at our peril

It’s been a busy period lately, but this article really highlights the challenges we face.
"We are now in uncharted territory. We've just gone over the 1 million ha mark. It exceeds major fire seasons of the past. The most concerning thing to emphasize is, it’s not over. Fires are situated in most critically dry parts of NSW." - UOW Prof Ross Bradstock via @AusSMC
