Wealth Idea #209: Active vs. Passive Investing
Tenfold Pillar: Money as a Tool
The active vs. passive debate generates more heat than almost any other topic in finance. Most of the noise misses the actual question worth asking.
Let's dive in...
I used AI to create our Halloween party. It looked too AI so I told AI to make it look like I drew it and that I’m terrible at drawing. My friends think my kids made it! We’ve gotten lots of positive feedback.
Apparently anti-AI AI is a real thing!
🤖 Made with AI
This kid is awesome! You can feel his passion and excitement! I’m going to try to be more like him…
This is lazy and destructive.
Everyone drifts apart if people aren't working at staying together and growing closer.
Marriage is a commitment to do just that.
Divorcing isn't the easy way out. It just FEELS like the easy way out. In the short term, it is easier.
Over the long-term, divorce is much harder than people realize and it takes a toll on innocent bystanders (namely, the children).
Dom is about to scorch-earth his daughters' entire world. Their "safe place" and "safe people" who they love, trust, and have known their entire lives aren't what or who they thought they were.
What Dom isn't prepared for: a number of non-father father-figures and non-mother mother-figures to pop in and out of his kids' lives over the coming years. None of them will care about those daughters. Those daughters won't be the priority of those people.
This pulls mom between people she's dating and her kids. She has to choose.
This pulls Dom between the people he's dating and his kids. He will have to choose.
The kids always feel that choice.
Keeping a marriage healthy and intact is hard.
Divorce is hard.
Choose your hard. @Dom_Investing chose the wrong one.
My wife and I decided to get a divorce.
There were no fights, just two adults who realised they drifted apart from each other.
This is probably the hardest thing I had to go through.
First of all, telling our girls...seeing them so sad was heartbreaking. But we are still a team as parents and will do everything for them!
Also we have to sell our house, the house I wanted to live in forever and raise my kids in...
Going back to a smaller appartment will be rough.
I still have a lot of to handle, that's why I wasn't active here on X.
I'm really grateful for all the people who reached out and asked where I was 🙏🏼
This women will always be a part of my life, she gifted me with two perfect daughters.
I wish her all the best, great memories were made in those years!
I'll be back soon. Thank you everyone 🙏🏼
Finished a new website and set it live yesterday. Had Cringe Bot review it...found 8 issues!
Thanks, @bot !
Succession planning is uncomfortable. It forces you to confront mortality. That's exactly why most owners keep pushing it. The cost is real.
Got to love health insurance:
I was quoted $3,500 for a hip MRI. Insurance would pay about $1,300, leaving me with a $2,200 bill.
Meanwhile, a cash pay MRI w/ and w/o contrast is advertised locally for about $650!
Insurance price: $3,500. Cash price: $650.
Thanks for the great "negotiated discount" @BCBSAssociation
This is a perfect example of why I'm a big fan of organizations like @crowdhealth
Great take on the Jacob Coxon post. Take 30 seconds and read this if you’re concerned about AI taking over the world or it being too highly regulated.
This story is fascinating and is easily one of the most important things happening at the intersection of AI and politics right now. It's critical everyone understands the situation because this is just the beginning of the AI infowars and psyops
Jacob Coxon, a relatively unknown AI researcher, gives the WSJ an exclusive story about his resignation from Anthropic and his concerns about AI
Twenty minutes after the WSJ story drops, Jacob posts on X about how he's concerned that AI could kill us all in a few years. This post now has over 149M views. For reference, Ilya Sutskever (a very well known AI name) left OpenAI in 2024 and his announcement post has fewer than 6M views as of today
Bear in mind, Jacob Coxon's X account had no prior posting activity public, but it is immediately reposted and boosted by numerous AI-doomer policy advocacy nonprofits funded by the same donor (Jaan Tallinn) who just happens to be one of the leading investors in Anthropic
We find out Jacob Coxon, who worked at Anthropic for only a few weeks, worked for a left-wing political advocacy group in 2021 (Newspeak). This organization is a British NGO with ties to hacking democracy, Hillary Clinton, prison abolition and extinction rebellion
Many major Democrat politicians are now using Jacob's X post to fear monger the public into voting to regulate AI. It just so happens Bernie Sanders has a bill already written to ban artificial superintelligence (ASI) and to create a new federal agency to protect the public from the dangers of AI. This bill was announced just one week ago on September 3rd
It would also place a temporary pause on "advanced AI" until a new federal regulator exists and has issued safety rules and a model-review process
Elon then points out how none of this feels organic, and Jacob decides to take a shot at him for firing some xAI researchers
Meanwhile, we know Anthropic has publicly asked the government to audit and block frontier models and Anthropic has run a state-by-state campaign for rules that only large AI labs trigger, meaning the rules are structured around barriers only frontier labs can easily clear (limiting competition)
There is extensive Anthropic personnel and financial overlap with the groups that wrote the Biden-era AI policies. It is well known information you can seek out if you want the detail
This all seemingly comes back to regulatory capture and political motives. None of this feels natural. Jacob can say these are his real views all he wants, and they may be, but there is clearly far more to the story
This is a fantastic example of how wills don’t always mean things will play out the way you want. Everyone should read this 🧵

Alright, it happened. After a slow start with Grok Bot I just had my mind blown. Twice
I did a screen recording with audio of me cleaning up my desktop after a week that resulted in hundreds of random files that all needed particular sorting
It's a monotonous task I've always wanted to outsource but didn't really trust other platforms to give that level of access
But the mind blowing part was how my Chief of Staff LEARNED not just what I do but HOW and WHY I do things
From a screen recording with my voice giving instructions...and because the video file was large my CoS automatically compressed the file under the limit to watch it
It then gave me feedback on what to change for how I record part two so it can learn even better
And there's more. I planted a quick question in my video recording to see how closely it was watching and listening. You can see my CoS asking me the question in the second screenshot, it's the last chat bubble
Soon enough I'll have this painful task automated away. And undoubtedly many, many others in time as well. Thank you @bot
This really will be the entry point for many and the beginning of a true paradigm shift. I also got my wife set up with Grok Bot today. This platform is easily accessible by anyone and everyone
Update: She’s going to live! That’s all I know. Thanks for the prayers. Keep them coming.
I thought I had a tough day. I didn’t:
I underwent a 5hr deposition. I’m suing my former biz prtnr who I believe is a dark personality.
Afterwards I was on my way to my kids’ school for packet pickup. Road was blocked and emergency lights everywhere.
A little girl on a push scooter was hit by a car at a crosswalk in front of the school. She was life-flighted to UPMC Children’s.
Hug your kids. Count your blessings. Please pray for this little girl.
This will help a lot of couples…
One thing about women that was very hard for me to fully accept was how they usually like to be treated when they're upset. They literally want some version of "Wow that's so frustrating, that's really hard, that must be so hard for you babe."
This was always just a foreign concept to me. I had a really hard time understanding. If a woman talked to me like this when I was upset I would assume she was patronizing me, condescending to me, and didn't respect me at all. She's treating me like a child. Very disrespectful.
If a man talked to me like this I would assume he's mocking me. Actually we might be about to fight. He's either teasing me and we have a good laugh or he's about to get punched.
But no, women actually want to hear things like this when they're upset. They don't want positivity, they don't want encouragement, they don't want solutions. They just want you to talk to them about how they feel.

Just saw a runner get smashed by a car while crossing an intersection. Pulled over. Runner popped up and claimed to be fine. Driver was 80+ years old. Sunny day. Just didn’t see him.
@Tesla FSD is perfect for elderly (and teenagers).
Anyone else dreaming about AI?
I had my 4th AI dream last night. The 1st 3 were about building w/ AI.
Last night I dreamt I was interviewing for a job. I said they could hire me for and I’d automate the entire job with 2 months so it would only be a short-term gig. 😆
Convo with my 8-year-old:
Him: We should ask @NASA if fish drink water or if they just kind of breathe underwater. Do you know anyone who works at NASA?
Me: Yes, I know 2 people.
Him: They must be really smart.
Me: Yeah, they are.
Him: They should teach me Spanish.
😆
