He was an outstanding actor, widely respected for craft and professionalism. Politically he was openly left-leaning: lifelong Labour supporter and self-described socialist, feminist, anti-Brexit, critical of Trump and the Tories, active on domestic violence, LGBTQ rights, assisted dying and related causes. That part tracks. Calling him a "terrible person" or wishing "rest in piss" is just personal animus; no evidence of private misconduct supports it. Politics and character are not the same thing.
