I told my students yesterday that if we were to go remote, things like tutoring wouldn't change and I would still be there to help them via email, chat, or a Google Meet session when they needed it. CPS decided what would be best for students is that they are completely cut off.

We have decided to work remotely until 1/18 or you put better safeguards in place so that the people in your care are safer. What? No. Not only will we cancel school, we will lock all of you out so you can't even communicate with students and students can't communicate with you.

Congratulations to one of our very own, Fay Lin! She was awarded the @Amazon Future Engineer Scholarship. She will be awarded $40,000 in scholarship money and a guaranteed paid internship at Amazon. We are so happy for you, Fay! Go @LaneTech1440 go!

The results are back! Our #MediaComp students kicked the booty! 4 of the top 10 @EarSketch songs for the #AmazonFutureEngineer #YourVoiceIsPower competition are from @LaneTech1440! In fact, 47 out of the top 100 runner-up winners are from Lane! Congrats to... 1/2

C'mon @ChiPubSchools! I know this is Chicago but you can at least TRY not to look like you're rigging the results. I guess, once again, I get to use CPS as the model of what not to do.

For those curious, the answer is yes. They’re pulling the same bullshit they did before. Option A: Remote and you're stuck there for good. Option B: Hybrid but you can change your mind whenever you want, as many times as you want. Absolutely deceptive data collection as usual.

Right on.

Got a 2.4 GPA my first semester in college. Thought maybe I wasn’t cut out for engineering. Today I’ve landed two spacecraft on Mars, and am now designing one for the Moon. STEM is hard for everyone. Grades ultimately aren’t what matter. Curiosity and perseverance matter.

Congrats to all of these wonderful students! Totally deserve it. 🙂

Sitting at the DMV. 5:30 am. 2 hours before doors open and there's already about 15 people in line.
Just notified my 2 yo nephew was diagnosed w/ #Covid_19. Transmission was in daycare. My family is also very tight. My parents are extremely high-risk (same w/ my wife & I). Scramble to get all set up for tests is nerve-wracking. I DARE anybody to tell me this thing’s a hoax.

The safety of my kids isn’t an option? My own safety is not an option? And don’t say that’s what “Health conditions of my student” is. Not wanting to get sick or die isn’t a health condition. ⁦@ChiPubSchools⁩

To everyone who wants to reopen schools, how many dead kids are you ok with? 100? 1000? 10000? Just give me a number so I know who I'm dealing with.

How about a nationwide strike to demand DeVos step down? Any Secretary of Education that doesn't care about the health of children is not fit for service.

Version 6 published! I made all requested changes by the doctors. Files with details are all live on the site. In summary, it’s shorter, wider, extra tabs removed, two forehead and bottom bar settings, and I made it all fit a 18”x12” laser bed for @glowforge and other users :)

Ok! Here is my flatpack, 5-piece, ~2min lasercut, fully adjustable, single material (no elastic needed), sterilizable face shield that’s easy to ship & assembles quickly. Still iterating (always). Site has details, instructions, and video demo. bit.ly/solinflatpack. #COVID19
