The mass rape of Ukrainians by Russian military forces was barbaric and inhumane.
Rape is used as a weapon of war to terrorize, torture, humiliate, and subjugate entire populations. Its victims include women, men, children, and the elderly.
The US doesnβt give a shit what Russia or Israel does cuz they do it too.
American soldiers also conducted mass rape and gang-rapes to Vietnamese women and girls during the Vietnam War.
At My Lai in 1968, American troops sexually assaulted women and girls while massacring hundreds of unarmed civilians, including children and infants.
Not a single American soldier was convicted of rape at My Lai, despite rape being prohibited under the laws of war.
How many babies did American soldiers leave behind due to mass rape in Vietnam?
American soldiers also raped and murdered civilians in Iraq. In 2006, US soldiers gang-raped a 14-year-old Iraqi girl, murdered her family, and burned her body to conceal the crime.
In Afghanistan, the United States supported security forces implicated in the sexual abuse of children.
This is recent history. Many of the men who fought these wars are still alive.
Rape is a war crime.
If these are the men supposedly βprotectingβ us, the same ones who wage wars, rape women and children, and then demand we give birth to the next generation of soldiers, no fucking thanks.
You canβt demand that women just shut up and produce children for a world that refuses to protect them.
In Roe v. Wade (1973), Justice Blackmun recognized that forcing a woman to continue a pregnancy could have devastating physical, psychological, and economic consequences.
βMaternity, or additional offspring, may force upon the woman a distressful life and future.β
The Supreme Court understood that motherhood could fundamentally alter a womanβs material conditions.
Yet America offered no guaranteed paid maternity leave, universal childcare, or universal healthcare.
The state recognized the economic burden of motherhood while leaving women to carry it themselves.
So if you're wondering why there's so many abortions in America today and are still blaming women for it and not the system itself for creating these material conditions, there's something fucking wrong with you.
The United States has the highest rate of women dying from pregnancy and childbirth in the developed world.
So yeah, no, donβt have kids until they fix this bullshit.
Iβm not saying anything that your own right-wing policies havenβt already brought about.
Stop having kids? Youβve made having children so financially difficult that millions of Americans are struggling to afford them even when they want them.
No guaranteed paid maternity leave. No maternity benefits, unaffordable healthcare, housing, and childcare.
Youβve made raising a family a financial liability, and now youβre wondering why people arenβt having children.
Youβve made life so unbearably difficult for women in America that youβve effectively put your own country on a birth strike.
And now youβre blaming women for the consequences of your own policies.
