Somehow I manage to live a very happy gay life despite not having any woke progressive friends. Everyone I know is sick of Pride, yet they all treat me like I'm, well, normal. And, admittedly I am biased, but I know some of the best people in the world, so I'm very grateful.
I do realize that a big part of the reason we got to a place where someone like me is accepted like I am is because of activists who came before me. I try to always give credit where credit is due and give thanks to the good things earned for me by others. But I also believe very strongly that the activists who won this life for me were the ones who pushed a message of inclusion and integration. "We're just like you," was successful because people saw that, in many cases, that was true.
But anti-assimilationist queer activists have decided to go scorched earth by deeming everything "normative," as oppressive. If they admit how good things got, they wouldn't be able to play the victim anymore, and having a victim narrative confers a lot of power in society today. Ironically, there's a risk of them pushing the victim narrative so far and using it to push so many boundaries that it actually becomes reality again. Boy who cried wolf, anyone?
Anyway, I'm glad to have grown up when I did and sad to see the movement take a nosedive. We actually have it really good, and the only people putting that in jeopardy are those who forgot the goal was to be treated like everyone else, not better than everyone else.

The funniest thing that emotionally volatile people on any side of the gender debate do when I've incensed them in some way is accuse me of not being a lesbian. Collectivist control freaks of all kinds think their proclamations are magic and believe that revoking someone's identity labels means something because they have no stable sense of self and indeed only understand themselves in terms of these labels.

A lesbian couple was brutally attacked by a gang of Syrian Muslim refugees in Canada.
Emma and Tori were out celebrating a birthday in Halifax, when they were suddenly approached by 10 Syrian men.
The men started shouting homophobic/sexist slurs and beat them up.

Most self-proclaimed "HSTS" are just as bad as your typical AGP troon, but in different ways. They're both terrible impersonations of what a man thinks a woman acts like - one the turbo campy, flamboyantly gay man version, the other being the weird straight fetish goblin version. Both are wildly out of place. The few genuine TS women I know don't act like either - they are just innately "female-coded", with lack of a better term. There's nothing wrong with being your genuine self in that regard.
