Buried in the Sahara, Nat Geo explorer Paul Sereno and his team uncovered 55 tons of dinosaur fossils—including a Spinosaurus skull and one of Africa's earliest giant predators. These finds are helping rewrite the story of prehistoric life in Africa. 🔗 on.natgeo.com/4nPKCFF

You'll all have seen the many announcements and PR pieces from #ColossalBiosciences. There are reasons to be concerned about the general message promoted by CB, one being that it's seen >by some< (US politicians in particular) as meaning that we can devalue conservation. 🧵1/n

I commissioned this from Matt as a resource for the entire art community. To my knowledge there was no full body lizard muscular anatomy reference until now.
Here's a look at a cool thing I've been working on for @arvalis. Lizard anatomy is well studied/figured, but many of the resources are hidden in literature that may be unknown/inaccessible to artists. The mission was to make an idealised, artist-friendly ref for lizard muscles.🦎

While on fieldwork I collected a big dead cormorant for dissection and brought it back to our building at night. But the grounds were locked so I had to lob it over the wall and aim to retrieve it the next day. It was in a large sack. Security found it, I got in trouble.

My first (public) skeletal of 2023 - Suchomimus tenerensis! This is a little update from the last, more S curved neck, and a few general changes based on the scanned material published in the new Spinosaurus paper! Scale bar is 1 metre, based on holotype specimen.
