I had always said (despite lot of arguments here) that Sancho prefers left wing and played better there. How did both Ole and ETH not know and expect this? Basic research not done before spending big money or relying on a player.
Erik Ten Hag: "Sancho didn’t want to play on the right side, which was very weird; he played often on the right. He said he felt more comfortable on the left. So there we had an issue, and we were late." [@lauriewhitwell]

Good point. Half the issue with CR was OOP but even in IP he wouldn't get into box or provide runs & movement at all. Same issue for many years with Portugal too. Just unwilling to adjust and play for the team. Bad buy of a poor player. Rest ETH quotes are very he said she said.
🚨🚨🎙️| Erik ten Hag says Cristiano Ronaldo pulled out of training sessions: “I confronted him with this. “Many times I say, ‘Ronnie, everyone wants to work for you to bring you in the right position, but if you can’t bring yourself in the box, you can’t score’. “He was not capable to do this. It’s the wrong idea to put this to me that I expected him to do the pressing, that he’s exhausted. But he couldn’t. He ran neither in possession nor out of possession. “The reason was because he didn’t prepare himself. Every top team has to embrace the top player, but the top player has to work for the team. “He was telling the players, ‘Save your legs at the training’. I understand it when you are top fit; you have sessions, you can save the legs. But first you have to train yourself to get into the right fitness levels.” [@TheAthleticFC]

Maguire, Shaw & Carrick called for reinforcements before the window ended & none arrived. It's clear the squad felt we needed defensive reinforcements (defenders literally asking for competition) & what Licha said is what everyone feels. Licha isn't doing something selfish here.
Wayne Rooney and Ashley Young are deeply disappointed by Lisandro Martínez's comments. They feel he's disrespected his teammates and will fracture the dressing room going forward.

Not absolving Carrick. He has enough talent at his disposal to be doing better than this. He def takes major blame and could pay for it if things continue like this. Just talking about Licha comments on team building and board in this post.

Okay this is a really good addition. Makes lot of sense (as a real world concept and as a game concept) and promises to add variety and dynamism to saves. Good update.

All he has done is prove the coach right & confirmed to all the fans what they already knew - that he's an egotistical vain crybaby who is a burden on his teammates, coaches & nation. Not even the first time he's behaved this way in recent years. Embarrassing personality.
🚨🇵🇹 Cristiano Ronaldo: “The coach had broken his word to me. At the end of the match I only wanted everything to finish with the victory and to be alone. I did not go to greet the fans. A failing that is solely my responsibility and that should not have happened. I apologise to the Portuguese who supported us intensely there, I apologise to the fans, and I apologise to those who, without being Portuguese, may have travelled there to see me and whom I may have disappointed. Forty-eight hours later we had a conversation — myself, the coach and Simão Coutinho — since he had been the one accompanying our conversations in August. It was a deep moment, very frank, without any kind of filter. We agreed that there was only one way to close this “case”: that the coach repeat what he had just told me in private, in the presence of Simão Coutinho, but in the press room. What was agreed was simple: the coach would begin the press conference with this subject, seeking to close the matter by telling the truth. He would say that I never asked to play any minutes, that it was the coach and no one else who proposed the plan for this camp to me, and that it was a mistake to put me on to warm up and then not bring me on, and that if it happened again he would not do it. We ended that meeting with the coach asking me for a hug, promising me that he would say at the conference what he had just said to me, and that the matter would be overcome. I would not play in Denmark and I would play the match at the Dragão. All of this in the presence of Simão Coutinho, always. At the coach’s request, a meeting then took place between himself, Simão Coutinho and Tiago Craveiro by videoconference, in which what we had discussed was summarised. A short document was produced which I myself validated and which, with my knowledge, was delivered to the coach, as he had requested. The conference was what is known: the posture had nothing to do with our meeting; I heard expressions and an aggressiveness that I do not believe I deserved, an attitude of “I want, I can and I command” that he never showed me, not even remotely, in private the day before. The notes I validated were the following: “I think it is important, also because it is the truth, to clarify a few things before talking about Denmark: 1. I myself, and no one else, proposed to Cristiano a plan for him this sporting season with the National Team. It was a long and very good conversation. 2. I know how much he lives and loves the national team and the weight he has in the world, and even more the weight and the positive influence he has had on the national team for 24 consecutive years. 3. The plan I proposed to Cristiano was accepted. 4. He never questioned my options. He was exemplary, loyal and professional. 5. The match in Norway was not part of the plan I drew up for him. However, I felt that he had managed to recover physically from the first match and I warned him that I might have to use him. Cristiano agreed. 6. I made a mistake by putting someone of the stature of Pelé or Maradona on to warm up and then not putting him in the game. If it were today I would not do it. 7. To close the subject: I want Cristiano in the National Team. In fact I do not want him a little, I want him a lot. Fortunately he also believes in me. He believed at Al Nassr and he does here as well. 8. About not greeting the fans. We have already spoken about that. Someone who has played more than 230 matches for the national team does not receive lessons from me on love for Portugal. It was a moment of frustration that erases nothing. He is the player who gives the most autographs, takes the most selfies, and shows the most affection to the fans. Let us not invent problems where they do not exist. When we are not happy we react. That was all. None of these notes, therefore, said that the coach should even apologise to me. It was the second time he had broken his word to me”.

Considering the role he played of constantly receiving back to goal under pressure & having runners dart across him (wingers, FBs, CMs), having a really good backheel technique helped a lot. None of these are fancy tricks. All timely releases in tough situations to create shots.
Roberto Firmino but it's only backheels

I also think the phrase false nine is thrown around a lot & rarely makes sense. Most of the time it's just used for a non CF in a CF role. But LFC Bobby was an actual false nine. Charged with drawing out defenders through vacating CF area for others (usually wingers) to attack.

Decided to follow the trend and do this. I picked the top ones from each genre - games that I've played a lot of in different phases of my life (there's stuff from 90s till this year on here)

A lot of this feels like a return to the last great version in FM24. It should be appreciated how open SI are in admitting their mistakes & taking audience feedback. It's just a shame we wasted a lot of time to get back to where we were & now have to build from there again.

This has probably been where we sit in this graph for years. High shots but low quality. Indictment of poor coaching for attacking sequences. All our coaches just give in to high freedom to be unpredictable & end up having lots of unstructured player-driven trigger-happy play.

It sounds odd to say this but almost feels like our managers subscribe to a certain motion of "the United way" or play with a pressure to entertain our fans & lean in to player tendencies & final third freedom as a result. ETH said as much. Carrick showing same. Amorim did too.

Like I do think an aspect of being unstructured is desired as mentioned below. Precious coaches have said this too. My guess it's either a United way thing like I said above or a feeling that current PL or meta needs this to succeed.

I repeat, I like Brobbey. Perfect example of the back-to-goal improvement I mentioned. There are traits there to be molded to make a very good CF. xitter.cf/JaneneRodg3930/status/…
I like Brobbey. Was high on my list last year coz of good poaching stats. He's improved back-to-goal & passing since. Still erratic in his finishing & needs some more decision-making IQ but the raw physical & technical traits are good. I wouldn't mind him or Zirkzee if <€50m.

I like Brobbey. His underlyings are good. He has lot of good traits. He ranked well on my CF list too. I think it's all there somewhere in him and he will explode under some good manager in some team that plays to his strengths.

Very happy both players have settled well and shown their class already. It's not rocket science. Top PL clubs just need to stick to a coherent transfer plan, buy the clear about-to-make-it players that correspond to gaps in their squad & just not do...what Spurs did this summer
Replying to @srinath2598
Chema and Sangare is my current thought. The PL guys will be too expensive for players who are not the perfect fit.

Sums him up well & why anyone who saw him at Sporting said he wouldn't have half the impact here. His movement, hold up, passing & close control are poor. Limited beyond 'run into space & finish' moves. Poorly scouted signing - like much of recent recruitment from top PL clubs.
Viktor Gyokeres was poor today for #AFC vs #IPS. There is no denying that no matter how big of a fan I am. Below I have compiled 4 different clips that highlight his box movement from wide creation moments. Overall poor. Technically: - He lacks the double movements and simply did not move to the front post enough. - It was a decent performance in terms of his hold up but his movement was beyond frustrating to watch. - He engaged in wrestling matches for no reason man. Thoughts? A retweet would be appreciated 🙏
