I love people saying this never happened or the Uber driver was lying. I was in his car for 8 minutes. He asked me what I did. I told him I write about sports corruption. He instantly tells me this story. I exit the car. Believe it or not, but it happened.
My Uber driver last night tells me, rather unprompted, that his friend is a 15+ year NBA ref. The ref told him they routinely engage in "game management" to insure there are no blowouts and to keep games close for "entertainment purposes."

Yaxel Lenderborg on his NBA debut and guarding Luka: "I got to see what the NBA is like, man. Lot of flopping, lot of foul baiting, lot of praying to the ref. Interesting first game for me... Being in there firsthand, just watching all the whining and complaining, I lost all respect. That was awful" Transcript of this soundbite: "Yeah, it was interesting. I got to see what the NBA is like, man. Lot of flopping, lot of foul baiting, lot of praying to the ref. Interesting first game for me, for sure. I had a lot of respect for him (Luka). You know, just watching. I didn't really watch the NBA much, I just watched highlights. Seeing him, you know, kill people all the time. But then being in there firsthand, just watching all the whining and complaining, I lost all respect, man. Like that was awful. Like me getting frustrated, it's not about the foul being called, it's about him complaining the entire game. And then you get the foul call, congratulations bro. And then you talk to me like you did something great, bro? Come on, dog. That's just weak. It kinda threw me off for a little while, cause you know, like I said, I had so much respect for him. Gone man, gone. I was telling him he sucks, he can't score on me. You talking and you can't score on me. I said it the whole game. I said a couple cuss words obviously, you know, that's why I got the technical and all that. But I was letting him know, because he was laughing and talking all this because of that one foul call. His only bucket on me was a banker from half court. Like I know that it's a team sport. You know, he had 28pts on us as a team. Me, I took my matchup personally. Tried not to get caught on the fouls. Tried my best. I was thinking about playing him with my hands behind my back to see if that worked, probably would've still got a foul call." Transcript via: reddit.com/r/nba/comments/1x…

GIANNIS JUST “PASSED TO HIMSELF” IN TRANSITION, TOOK ABOUT 47 STEPS, AND THEY CALLED IT A BUCKET… You literally cannot pass the ball to yourself in the NBA. That’s a travel every single time at every level… But superstar privilege is alive and well. Refs let him Euro-step from half court like it’s nothing… This is why casual fans tune out. Same rules don’t apply to everyone… How many more of these “missed” calls are we supposed to ignore this season?

NFL to Steelers fans in Paris: It’s not safe enough for us to host a Steelers fan party. But the game will be fine. And awesome. And there’s nothing to worry about.

Just a "conspiracy theory" or is it reality? I, for one, don't believe in coincidence when it's tied to billions of dollars.
I believe we have witnessed and are witnessing the biggest scandal in a North American major sport since the inception of legalized sports gambling. The Tampa Bay Rays and Milwaukee Brewers have each never won a World Series. Both are the AL and NL standards for building competitive teams without financial resources. What are the odds that, the season before a lockout amid financial competitiveness, two of MLB’s smallest markets make the World Series and are cited by players and media as proof you can compete without big-market spending? Both teams, of which each has never won one, have made it. We will have a first-time-ever World Series champion. It's all happening this season. Major coincidence? Or ultimate collusion? Baseball is a sport where if there’s a way to cheat, you will. The players’ union is one of the most unfair fighting mobs in any sports league. That's 'cause the sport of baseball is as dirty as it comes—always has been, always will be. I’m not saying it’s odd the Brewers swept the Dodgers, whose stars looked like they phoned it in. I'm saying it's very unbelievable. If you put on a tinfoil hat, you wonder if players pulled off the ultimate chess move. Yes, I believe the 2026 playoffs were thrown by big-market players and teams to prove a point and gain ammo for off-season CBA talks. There's many of you that will dismiss this already and think I'm crazy and that's fine—I don't think the average person understands how contentious discussions regarding a salary cap in this sport is and will be. This is Israel and Palestine. These players will never go down in history as the players that caved and gave a salary cap. The owners are prepared to lose multiple seasons in order to get one. If you think the world is very innocent, and this isn't something the players or the players' union would do, you do not have a true beat on what this moment is, and I have a bridge to sell you. People will call me crazy and point to how good the Brewers and Rays were. Making the World Series isn’t unbelievable—that’s the beauty of what they pulled off. When the CBA talks are in full force and the real shit starts to fly, I promise you that 2026 World Series will be exhibit A, B, and C. No, public perception has not been on the owner side, and I still think a good amount still will be. I think fans and smaller markets want a salary cap—however, the tide has begun to turn on perception, and this World Series has helped. Congratulations to the players and the players' union. Fucking incredible move. Respect.

My man is dropping truth bombs on the NFL right now.
I don’t care. The fans deserve to know. I won’t be silent. I’m exposing all of it today. I’m in the right state of mind and happy just want to put it out there. I don’t know if this video will stay up or be taken down, so I’m going LIVE today at 5 PM CT. youtube.com/live/WTOoQQd2voo…

This one is a little weird, even to me.
Cam Skattebo was the MOST bet player prop in Week 6. So the Giants gave him the ball 0 times. #RiggedNFL

Well, now. Looks like we have a new proponent for The Fix Is In.
I won’t even be quiet about it no more. When I played in the NFL we all knew officials were rigging games certain ways. It happens at the college ranks. Last year when I put the NFL on blast about it they threatened to pull my pension. Fck em. The world deserves to know.

And this will stop game and spot fixing how, exactly? Oh, that's right. It won't. It's a public band-aid on a severed limb.
The NBA and prominent sportsbooks have agreed to ban multiple types of bets, per me and @DavidPurdum, such as: - Parlay bets involving the under on the same player's statistics - "First of" market; examples: winner of opening tip, an individual's specific shot, rebound, assist, steal - Under bets on players expected to play less than 12 minutes a game

"Introduced."
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver says the league could begin using a new “smart ball” in games as soon as 2027, potentially transforming how officials make calls 🤖 The league is working with Wilson to develop a ball embedded with a tiny microchip Bluetooth sensor that can track movement, spin and changes in trajectory. Thoughts? 🤔

This dude needs to read my books and catch up.
NFL needs to be investigated for the horrible, biased officiating week in and week out. Been going on for over a decade. The league clearly has an agenda that favors certain teams and penalizes others. This isn't pop warner. It's a billion-dollar industry that people bet on. Enough is enough. @NFLOfficiating

And I want to access the NBA's internal communications to its referees and its investigation into Michael Jordan's gambling, but we're probably going to get the same result: nothing.
