I write about World Music, and work with organisations to make substantial, sustainable improvements in their performance. Views mine only. Unimaginably drab.

Maybe give my POEM credit next time. From my book The Second O of Sorrow published by BOA Editions.
Writing is the superpower of humankind. It is our truest form of magic. Writing allows you to conjure up something of value where nothing previously existed. It costs little for you to write down the lessons of your life and yet those few minutes spent writing can be life-altering for the right reader. As I once saw it put: "there is someone out there with a wound in the exact shape of your words." Furthermore, writing is the foundation of nearly every technology and innovation because we have to record what we know before we can build upon it. And these innovations are passed down from generation to generation, allowing our children to inherit a richer intellectual fortune than what we were born into. The world is richer because we write and nobody is made poorer in the process.

This is, unreservedly, my favorite account of an ambassador behaving badly, from a diplomatic oral history site. I read this years ago and cannot forget it, and you won’t either. (If they made this a movie, it’d be R rated.) adst.org/2015/06/this-woman-…

Quibbles are bigger (or smaller!) than any one organisation. While this announcement surprised us, it's good to see the cause gaining currency. Martin has been an effective “quibbler” for a long time - one of our campaigns (Tax-Free Childcare name change) was even inspired by him. We wish the Small Ideas Initiative well. With the 5-month head start that we've had, we'd love to meet with @MartinSLewis, swap notes, and see how we can work together to fix the small stuff. We’re proud of what we've built and the progress made on our campaigns so far. We're also proud of the personal investment that we’ve both been making to get quibble going… and of the fact that we'll always be the OGs.😉
NEWS: Today I’m launching The Small Ideas Initiative. We want you to submit ideas at Small-Ideas.org for non-controversial fixes, e.g “live sewage updates for beaches” or “standardised allergen menus”. A year ago, an interviewer asked what I’d have told the Government if I’d been advising it, I replied, 'Come up with 100 small things that piss people off and fix one a day for the first 100 days'. As I left the stage, I emailed myself, 'set up Small ideas institute!' And today, I’m excited it's happening. I’m funding two charities to work together to collate the submissions, narrow them down to about 200 doables then turn those into formal policy proposals which I'll bring back to you for feedback. Then to finish we've a Cross-Party panel who’ve agreed to pick 50ish, after which we’ll start trying to make them happen. You can read far more about it and who the cross party panel are here… blog.moneysavingexpert.com/2…

Fellow British journalists - prepare to be extremely jealous
“They took my cover from me last minute and ran the issue,” Drake said at the time. “I’m disgusted with that. RIP to Philip Seymour Hoffman. All respect due. But the press is evil.” Wrote about how I used to get paid to hang out with famous people

New Depeche Mode track just dropped
using faff is like having your personal micro-mckinsey it's the only way to hire IIT engineers (literally) to manage all the painful, unromantic parts of your life, so that you can focus on living the good life. never travel with more than a carry-on (faff gets my luggage to the destination); never set foot in a crowded mall (faff gets the clothes delivered); never go without a workout (faff gets me a day-pass nearby, wherever i am); never plan my meals (faff coordinates with the cook, gets groceries and manages the macros). the good life, fulfilled by people smarter than me.

Positively Bluesky level of responses here
I liked Dolly Parton but I can’t mourn someone who never used her platform to speak out against the Town and Country Planning Act of 1947

New Order’s “Blue Monday” played entirely on vintage Casio instruments. Polaroids of the Pyramids cooked this one. Insanely good! via: youtube.com/watch?v=h9mm0YlM…
