@TheJimmyGraham is one of the smartest businessmen I've ever met, and almost nobody knows it.
I've spent three years in rooms with billionaires, founders, executives and investors, thousands of conversations, and he's near the top of that list.
He'd give away his entire playbook to his teammates, but he had one test.
Everybody knows the Hall of Fame level tight end. Rowed across the Arctic Ocean last year. Flies planes. Almost nobody knows how elite he is in private credit, banking, and venture.
His teammates would come to him asking how he does what he does off the field. They wanted in.
So he'd hand them a simple book on business. Read it, show me you're serious, and I'll show you everything. Business, investing, networking, all of it.
He gave away hundreds of books to his teammates. Only two read them.
That's a Hall of Famer offering to hand over everything he knows, to guys who saw him every single day, and it sat there.
I think about that more than almost anything I learned in the NFL and three years of private equity.
Because what stood between them and that playbook wasn't access. He was offering it. It wasn't intelligence. Everyone in that locker room is capable.
It was whether they'd do one small unglamorous thing first, with no guarantee attached.
That's the real filter in every room I've been in since. Not talent. Not who you know. Whether you'll do the boring part before anyone's watching or paying you.
I got hired into private equity off an NFL practice squad because I took initiative and said yes to unpaid, uninvited work for six months. None of it looked impressive at the time. It was honestly crazy, but it just separated me from everyone who wouldn't.
If the price of learning from greatness is one small task, pay it. That's not a hoop. That's the test.
Most people don't pass it. Not because they can't, but because they won't put in the effort.
The way you win is being around people better than you. Finding coaches, in life and in business. That's it.
Do the small thing. It might just change your life.
I want to meet the current and former athletes who'll put in the effort. If that's you, my DMs are open!

The Miami Hurricanes have 11 NFL Hall
of Famers.
With quite a few more that could join them soon.
Greatness is the standard and @coach_cristobal is bringing that standard back.
It all starts on Greentree! You put in the work and Canton, Ohio is waiting for you.

To Baylen Brees, he’s always been a first-ballot dad.

Still trying to find the words for this one.
Football gave me some unbelievable moments... but strapping into a Thunderbird jet over Miami Beach on Memorial Day weekend is beyond something I dreamed as a kid and surely a feeling I’ll remember forever.
The precision, trust, discipline, and professionalism of this team is unreal. Not just the pilots... the entire machine behind them. The maintainers, crew chiefs, planners, support personnel…an entire team committed to excellence at the highest level.
Deeply honored to represent The U, the NFL, and Miami alongside people who dedicate their lives to something far bigger than themselves. & a special thank you to my pilot, #8 “Razz.” An absolute professional, incredible human, and someone who carries the weight of representing this team with humility, confidence and class. Sharing that cockpit and experience with you is something I’ll never forget, brother.
And most importantly, Memorial Day. A time to remember the brave men and women who never made it home. We tly, gather, celebrate, and live free because of their sacrifice. Never forgotten.🇺🇸✈️
Incredible time at @SunnFunFlyIn flying @EAA young eagles and our military veterans. Grateful for the work our team and volunteers are doing for Mission 2.5
