When I found the national Federation of the blind. I learned about the organization and I have met so many friends and mentors. They have really guided me along my journey.

I learned a lot of my alternative techniques in school, but unfortunately I was not able to get the best services. I opted to go to a training center and it changed my life.#MeetTheBlind
A1, Please understand that blindness does not mean that you’r life "is over," and that you can no longer be a productive, contributing, fulfilled member of your community and society. #MeetTheBlind
Good afternoon, everyone! As with the other Federation centers, many of our students experience blindness later in life, and navigating this New phase can often be simultaneously rewarding and challenging. #MeetTheBlind

So accurate! I get the awkward stares all the time from people. Or they will say, "But you don't look blind..." #BlindnessAwarenessMonth #MeetTheBlind – at Johnstown, PA
Blindness is a spectrum. Some blind people have some sight but still need to use tools like a cane. We’ve heard others might think we’re “faking it,” but we’re just using techniques that are efficient, helpful, and safe for us. #MeetTheBlind

A6: What may be perceived as a disability, in many instances can be a benefit. Additionally, some of the accommodations used to make things accessible benefit others. For example, captioning for the deafblind creates searchable transcripts for the sighted. #MeetTheBlind

KYU2 acquiring another disability was a little scary at the beginning, but because I didn’t stop and I developed alternative techniques, it’s not scary. I don’t like when society feel sorry for me. #MeetTheBlind
All too often, expectations are lowered for all blind people, especially those with additional involvements. In the Federation and at our training centers, we are changing that paradigm. #MeetTheBlind
Thanks so much!
Congratulations to @TheLCB1985 on celebrating 35 years, changing lives, and helping blind people live the lives they want. #MeetTheBlind

Great advice!
A9 Oh man, this one is hard. If travel is something that stresses you out, my best advice is to go get training at a structured discovery center. @TheLCB1985 @CoCenter4Blind and @BlindInc are all great. Training truely changed my life. #MeetTheBlind
