🔥 52 YEARS AGO THIS MONTH: TWO NURSES WERE SCREAMING FOR THEIR LIVES. POLICE HEARD THEM. NOBODY COULD FIND THEM. On October 6, 1974, Wendy Evans, 18, and Lorraine Wilson, 20, disappeared while hitchhiking in Queensland, Australia. The two nurses were visiting family in October of 1974, and were on their way home when their car broke down. The pair decided to hitchhike. Witness evidence later suggested that the women accepted a ride from men in a green car. They were never seen alive again. Witnesses later described seeing two young women being brutally assaulted by men along a remote road. The women were reportedly screaming and begging for help. A married couple witnessed the attack, but were too frightened to stop because their children were in the car. That same night, police responded to reports of bloodcurdling screams near Toowoomba. Officers actually HEARD the screams themselves but couldn’t determine where they were coming from. The officer described them as the most horrifying sounds he had ever heard. They searched the area, but they found nothing. Eventually, the screaming stopped. Nearly two years later, the nurses’ skeletal remains were discovered in bushland. Both had suffered fatal head injuries. Decades of investigations exposed allegations of a violent group of men, witnesses who remained silent, and devastating failures in the investigation. In 2013, a coroner identified Wayne Robert Hilton, who had died in 1986, as one of those responsible. No one was ever convicted.
