I'm revisiting a subject I raised earlier this year, one involving Jeffrey Rath and reports of discussions about a potential $500 billion loan from the United States to support Alberta separation. There is a question I didn't address in my original post: Who arranged the meeting, and at what level of government were those arrangements known? I suspect the connections may reach into senior levels of the Alberta government, although that remains a question requiring answers, not an established fact. Then there is Pete Hoekstra, the U.S. Ambassador to Canada, and his acknowledgment of regular contact with Premier Danielle Smith or her office. These connections raise questions about who knew what, when they knew it, and whether anyone had the authority to make representations about Alberta's future resources or assets. With that in mind, here is my original post from January 10, 2026: "In simple terms, this is about misrepresentation. I can’t walk into a bank and borrow money by claiming I’ll control someone else’s property when that property isn’t for sale and I have no legal authority over it. In the U.S., repeated behavior like that can fall under racketeering. In Canada, it’s addressed as fraud. Different legal terms — same principle: you don’t get to promise or leverage what isn’t yours and expect others to rely on it." If discussions about a $500 billion credit arrangement really occurred, who initiated them, what assurances were offered, and what authority did anyone have to make those assurances?

WHO CHECKS GOVERNMENT POWER? Alberta’s Bill 14 deserves renewed attention—and a response from Ottawa. Passed in December 2025, the Justice Statutes Amendment Act removed important safeguards from Alberta’s citizen initiative process, including: • The requirement that initiative proposals not contravene specified Charter and Aboriginal and treaty rights provisions. • The Chief Electoral Officer’s power to refer questions to a court. It also provided for the termination of pending proceedings under that referral process. These changes did not remove the Constitution. They removed safeguards designed to test proposals against it. In the separation-reference case, Justice Feasby criticized legislation intended to circumvent an independent electoral officer’s valid court process. That should concern us regardless of how we vote. I believe Ottawa should pursue disallowance—the exceptional constitutional power to annul a provincial Act. Concerns about provoking a constitutional confrontation deserve consideration. So does the danger of allowing independent safeguards to be steadily weakened. Avoiding confrontation is not the same as protecting constitutional stability. Write to Justice Minister Sean Fraser at [email protected]. Ask him to recommend disallowance of Bill 14 and confirm the applicable deadline. The one-year window runs from federal receipt of the authentic Act; the exact date needs confirmation. Would you accept these changes from a government you oppose? Please share—and consider sending your own brief, respectful email. #Alberta #Bill14 #RuleOfLaw

Technology has transformed how we communicate, but it has not diminished the power of thoughtful words. A well-written letter can open doors, a carefully constructed argument can change minds, and a single sentence can challenge assumptions that have stood for generations. Whether written by hand, published in an article, or shared across digital platforms, words remain among the most powerful instruments of leadership. The responsibility lies in choosing them wisely, supporting them with substance, and understanding that once expressed, they can influence people and decisions far beyond our immediate reach. @liberal_party #leadership

Leadership
Mark Carney: "It's sobering that this is the first time in over two decades that first ministers and First Nations have met together. This is an important opportunity, yes, to share perspectives, to listen, to learn, but above all, to commit to action. So let's seize this opportunity."

No leader, organization, or business is beyond failure, regardless of past success, influence, or reputation. Recognizing our vulnerabilities isn't a sign of weakness; it's the beginning of responsible leadership, sound judgment, and the willingness to adapt before circumstances force us to. I’d like your opinion. Reply Red, White or Navy in the comments. Thanks-RB.

A Storm in a Teacup: Why U.S. Election Blame Won't Shock Canada - According to insights from political strategist Scotty Greenwood and former Canadian Consul General Tom Clark, U.S. officials are boisterously claiming that Canada is meddling in their midterm elections. lol..ok, bud.. Let’s be entirely honest: Canadians see exactly what is happening here. This whole situation is bound to amount to absolutely NOTHING but a regular cycle of hot air, dramatic political posturing, and massive, exaggerated headlines designed to stir up cheap drama. It's a classic case of pointing fingers whenever local politics get a little too complicated or uncomfortable at home. And believe me, the Republicans are REALLY uncomfortable right now. Even IF American politicians decide to throw a few policy curveballs or trade threats our way, they are VASTLY underestimating the country north of them. Canadians are WAY more than resilient enough to handle a little political weather; we will firmly push back, leaving Washington wishing they hadn't started this shit show. 🇨🇦 Canada remains comfortably in control of its OWN destiny, watching the meltdown unfold with polite amusement. While some Americans like Trump try to recapture the spotlight with aggressive rhetoric, they are looking less like a political powerhouse and more like a fizzling spark on a rapidly changing political map. Go ahead and spark your headlines, Purple Hand, we will just keep quietly running the show, pal. You MAGA trash might want to turn down your Toby Keith Spotify playlists and learn some respect. 😌 #canpoli #cdnpoly #Canada #MAGA #TCOT #Republicans

Smith is evidently incapable of being honest. Albertans, we must start holding the UCP to account.
Hey Alberta: is this incompetence or a full on intentional lie? 9003 Acute Care Spaces is NOWHERE near a record number for our prov In the late 1980s we had 17,790 acute care spaces in hospitals (~12,000 acute care beds, +LTC beds) 1988: 7.4 beds/1000 2026: 1.5 beds/1000 1/2

A crisis reveals the difference between reacting and leading. Strong leaders resist the temptation to act simply to appear decisive. They assess the circumstances, establish priorities, and take deliberate action with a clear understanding of the consequences. Leadership during a crisis is not measured by how quickly someone responds, but by whether their decisions restore stability, protect people, and move the organization forward.

Populism is designed to stir hate and division. They have an agenda...they do not accept those who are different. They believe they are morally right and will ignore laws to push their beliefs. Attacking children is always troubling and shows how truly morally bankrupt populist are.

The underlying motive is for this government to yet again appease a small but vocal segment of their base (the fanatical home schooled evangicals) who are vocal and carry weight in rural Alberta and with the UCP. This party is damaging the people and the future of Alberta.

Fixed it for you Elon. What's actually going on in the United States is a massive incentive difference between the elites and the people. The former have grown very rich at the expense of hard working Americans.
Elon Musk spreads disinformation about Ukraine after being exposed for sabotaging military operations by the WSJ. The US tax funded billionaire, Trump's largest donor, (backed by Israel and Russia); tied to the deaths of thousands of children due to USAid cuts, blames Ukraine for not surrendering.

Because @ABDanielleSmith @UCPCaucus don’t believe in the science. They believe that they are smarter than the most preeminent immunologists in the world. We don’t need vaccines…Smith swore by Ivermectin. They kill Albertans & overwhelmingly our ERs, this is who leads us.
Why do albertans have to pay for COVID vaccine (with a few exceptions)? The medical system here can’t handle outbreaks!

This is a good statement by Carney. Meanwhile, the RW Influencers and Maple MAGA are fully ignoring, or even celebrating this support and assistance of a murderous dictator resulting in deaths of Ukrainians... Sick.
Mark Carney on Elon Musk throttling Starlink: "I search for the right adjective to describe whoever took this decision or group of people took this decision against a country that is literally fighting for the lives of the citizens against naked aggression."

Albertans need an #ElectionNOW not in a year when Smith has had time to generate other distractions that cloud people’s memories of the monumental fiasco of this referendum. #CallAnElectionNOWDanielleSmith #130MILLIONWASTED
Yes, she’s just so accommodating to the wants and needs of Albertans - and now will position herself as representing the majority that want to stay in Canada.

More Albertans voted for the Liberals in the last federal election than voted for the separatist option in the referendum. Can we now PLEASE stop pretending that separatists speak for all Albertans?
