This morning I kept receiving calls from a number I did not recognise. I ignored them at first because I was busy, but the person was persistent. Eventually I excused myself from what I was doing and answered.
“Hello,” I said.
A feminine voice responded, “Hi sweetheart, how are you doing? It’s been quite a while. Hope you’re fine.”
The voice sounded familiar, though I could not immediately place it. I was certain it was someone I knew. Then she said, “I’m pregnant for you.”
I was taken aback. “That can’t be possible. I don’t even know you.”
She laughed softly and revealed her name. “I’m Rachael. I was just playing with your mind. But just know that I missed you so much, and I have never stopped loving you.”
Rachael was my ex. We did not break up after any heated argument. It was simply silence. One day she went quiet on me. I tried reaching out several times, but there was no response, so I eventually let it be.
She continued, “I have never quite moved on. I regret the day I began ignoring you. I always thought I would find peace and love somewhere else, but I couldn’t. I love you, and I would want us to get back together. We can work out our differences, dear.”
I was shocked. I asked her where she got my number, and she told me my sister had given it to her. I simply replied that it was fine and asked if she was okay.
Inside, I was hesitant. I could not easily return to someone who had left without a single word, especially when I had never mistreated her or argued with her. My response was short and clear:
“Rachael, you and I are no more. I have moved on, and I am already engaged. We cannot get back together.” I could sense the disappointment in her voice, but I had to stand my ground. She then asked if I could at least allow her to see me and spend some time together, even just for a day. I knew where that conversation was heading, so I did not fall for it. I told her I would think about it and let her know, but that it was not something I was considering.
After the call ended, I sat quietly for a moment. Old feelings have a way of returning suddenly, especially when they arrive through a familiar voice. But not every door that reopens is meant to be walked through again.
Some chapters close for a reason, and reopening them only risks disturbing the peace you have already built.
I chose to leave it where it ended with calm, firm words, and no unfinished promises.

That was what 25-year-old Stephanie Oropeza shouted to her fiancé at around 4 a.m. in Orlando, Florida.
But there was something unusual about the woman rushing to help a stranger after a car crash.
She was dressed as a giant yellow banana. 🍌
Stephanie and her fiancé were returning home from a Halloween party when they noticed an SUV swerving on the road.
Suddenly, the vehicle lost control and crashed into the outdoor seating area of The Moderne Bar on Colonial Drive.
While many people might have driven past, Stephanie insisted they stop.
Her fiancé pulled over, and she immediately called 911 before rushing towards the crashed vehicle to check on the driver.
There she was, standing beside a damaged SUV in an oversized banana costume, trying to make sure a complete stranger was okay.
Stephanie was studying to become a nurse and already worked in a pediatrician's office. Helping someone in distress was something she took seriously.
Fortunately, the driver appeared uninjured. Police later confirmed that nobody was hurt, and the driver was cited for careless driving.
But the story didn't end there.
The Moderne Bar shared surveillance footage online, hoping to identify the mysterious woman in the banana costume.
They nicknamed her the “Banana Hero” and wanted to thank her for stopping.
Eventually, Stephanie saw the post and revealed herself.
The restaurant welcomed her back with a free dinner and even created a special banana-inspired cocktail in her honour.
What began as an ordinary Halloween night became an unexpected viral moment.
Stephanie wasn't wearing a superhero suit. She wasn't expecting recognition or a reward.
She simply saw someone who might need help and refused to ignore it.

I was on a flight when the woman across the aisle pointed at this tiny triangle above the window and asked if I knew what it meant.
I’d honestly never even noticed one before.
She told me those little triangles are there for the crew, not the passengers.
I’ve flown plenty of times and somehow completely missed them.
