Journalist Nida, who posts on X as @rebelnida, confronted Deepak Sharma after he allegedly made remarks about her hijab while she was covering the Race Course Mosque in Delhi. In a video of the exchange, Sharma is heard saying, “This is called hijab, learn something. This is culture, this is hijab.” He then allegedly told Nida not to call her head covering a hijab. Nida challenged his remarks, asking, “Are you my father? Who are you to tell me whether I have tied my hijab correctly or not?” She accused him of targeting her attire instead of addressing the issue she was reporting on. Sharma denied making a comment about her hijab, while Nida insisted that he had. She also questioned what she described as hypocrisy among people who comment on Muslim women's hijab while opposing the burqa.
