We’re supporting the UK's inaugural Play Safety Week from 9th – 15th September. Play Safety Week has been created by the @TheRPII for schools, organisations, and families to come together to educate, celebrate, discuss and raise awareness of what play safety means. 1/2

ALT The image promotes "Play Safety Week" with a colorful design. The text at the top reads, "I'm proudly supporting." Below that, the words "Play Safety Week" are prominently displayed, with playful elements such as swings, slides, and ladders incorporated into the typography, giving a fun, playground-themed look. The campaign information is provided at the bottom with the line: "Join the campaign at www.playsafetyweek.org" in blue text against a light background.

A great feature by @BBCSouthNews on play and playgrounds, where I spoke about the importance of play and the need for play sufficiency legislation in England.
In England, children are all but ignored within the national planning policy framework (NPPF). For example, the 2021 NPPF makes only one single mention of children. Currently, no other planning guidance addresses children explicitly. By contrast, bats and newts are amongst the
species covered by national planning guidance.
There are nearly 12 million children living in England, yet they have no effective voice within, or mechanism for influencing, the current planning system.
Therefore, @PlayEngland are calling for meaningful change within England’s planning system, through the introduction of play sufficiency legislation ⤵️
