Bit of a break from politics. Here's a wonderful & very emotional clip from Band of Brothers.
WWII has ended. The German forces have surrendered and a German general asks permission to give a parting address to his soldiers.
The men listen as the General's words are translated by an American soldier. Its interesting to observe the faces of the allied troops, as they slowly realise that the words of the German General apply just as well to themselves.
Then the unspoken thought arises. Have they been fighting and killing their own brothers?
The overall scene is a brilliant comment on who really suffers from wars. Its a very succinct and understated message that has more impact for the subdued manner by which it is conveyed.
IMHO a wonderful piece of screenplay.

The obsession by politicians to censor social media is seriously pathological. They don’t like the mean things people say about them and they long for the days when they could just call the owner of the newspaper and kill or water down a negative story about themselves

In Holland, a bunch of white liberal woman and their beta male friends sing a song welcoming immigrants to their country.
The song went on for a while longer, but if I had had to type any more of the lyrics I would have needed to puke.
Since then, Holland has gone from a country that was proud of its amazingly low crime rates to one of the most unsafe countries in Europe.
Beware the enemy within.
This is a perfect example of why the NZ legacy media draws so much mistrust & contempt. They have persisted with the lie that Mr Peter's comments were racist. In truth he was pointing to the differences between NZ's liberal democracy & China's communist/police state.

When NewstalkZB's Mike Hosking asked Willis about steadily rising rates and increasingly extortionate electricity charges this morning, she had no answer other than legislation.
Capping rates and line charges is not a solution but a typically socialist attempt to divert from the real reason these charges are increasing.
In almost every case, its down to politicians and their unscientific and emotional attachment to the myth of man caused global warming.
Willis won't say this. Neither will Luxon or Hipkins. Because they've all been pushing this disastrous concept for decades.
True there's been a slight drop in wholesale prices. This hasn't led to any real lowering of consumer charges.
It won't happen because the power companies are flat out building a distribution system to feed in power from widely spaced wind and solar farms.
The required grid will take decades to build and cost consumers billions. So its idiotic to expect (or as in Willis's case promise) relief.
The best way to bring relief from an ever rising cost of living? Its simple.
Stop electing politicians who are devotees of the climate change religion.
I'm tired of hearing National blame the oil & gas ban for extortionate energy prices. If its such a big driver of cost of living increases, why did it take more than 20 months to repeal it? It should have been done in the first 100 days (like other items were).
