Our jobs are shifting. We must design environments where juniors are exposed to code behaviour under load, code reviews focused on 'why', and sandbox failures. I’ve written down my full thoughts here: andymorrell.net/articles/is-… (5/5)

This brings up a massive challenge for engineering leaders: How do juniors bridge that gap to become seniors? If modern tools do the heavy lifting on basic syntax, juniors don't get 'stuck' the way we used to. But getting stuck is exactly how you learn the mechanics. (4/5)

The architecture, system design, and deep understanding of how a language handles scale? That still requires human judgment. Being a language-agnostic leader today is about moving your value up the stack. Syntax was always just the toll at the gate. (3/5)

Moving to a new language used to mean learning two things: the syntax (where braces go) and the quirks (how it behaves under load). With AI coding agents, the syntax tax has basically dropped to zero. You can translate your intent into almost clean code in an afternoon. (2/5)

🧵Looking for my next engineering leadership role, and lately, I’ve noticed Lead, Head of, and Manager specs still insisting on specific language stacks. It made me think about how much the role of a development leader has actually changed recently. 👇 (1/5)

@PirateSoftware you’re amazing Thor, still remember when you had “Go” in front of your name. Keep fighting for us all.

Great to see @PirateSoftware on @DroppedFrames it’s a small case of “one of us” (yes hot fuzz reference) being interviewed but some of the “gods” of @Twitch I hope some of the viewers learned from the show and know what not only game devs but software devs go through

Unfortunately due to my mental health and personal issues in 2023, I am no longer a Microsoft MVP. I knew it would happen. Congrats to those who were renewed and those that have just joined the program. I’ll be back, maybe! #MVPBuzz
