Too many Nigerians cannot name the basic responsibilities of the officials they elect. To close that gap, the Citizens P.U.L.S.E Capstone Group combined physical civic activations, animated explainers, a multilingual website, and a trained Civic Ambassador network to move citizens from awareness toward informed participation. Across three geopolitical zones, the team: - reached 534+ citizens face-to-face, - commissioned 76 Civic Ambassadors, - drew over 28,000 website visitors, and - measured a 43% increase in civic knowledge. #SPPG #SPPGClassof2026 #Fixpolitics #Leadership #Governance

The budget can’t just be abstract. It has to mean something to people. That’s why we track the projects behind it: the schools, hospitals and roads yet to be fixed or built. Arguably Nigeria’s largest public project tracker, across 34 of 36 states and around 3,500 communities. Share your information on yourtracka.org. We activate on social media, write letters, and escalate to the EFCC, ICPC and other anti-corruption agencies, so public services reach the people they’re meant for. From Episode 10 of the Big Ideas Podcast with Seun Onigbinde (@seunonigbinde) Founder @BudgITng Watch the full episode: youtu.be/mtwO4JPVS3w #BigIdeasPodcast #SPPG #Leadership #BudgetTracking #Accountability #Nigeria

Throwback to the moment the whole hall sang. 🎷 Last Saturday, after the keynotes, saxophonist Temilayo Abodunrin, who has been playing since she was 12, took the stage with Dr Obiageli "Oby" Ezekwesili’s (@obyezeks) favourite song. Within moments the room was singing. The graduates left their seats, came to the front, sang along, took photos, and many of us found ourselves in tears of joy. After ten months of late nights and hard assignments, this was the Class of 2026 celebrating together. The future is here. #ThrowbackThursday #SPPG #SPPGClassOf2026 #Graduation #FixPolitics #Nigeria

The School of Politics, Policy and Governance retweeted
At the #FixPolitics Africa Conference 2026, themed "Reimagining Elections in Africa: Restoring Citizens as the True Owners of Power - Moments to Movement," stakeholders across the continent gathered physically and virtually to address a fundamental issue: How to return power to citizens in elections in Africa's democracies Speaking at the high-level roundtable, our Founder, Dr. Obiageli “Oby” Ezekwesili (@obyezeks ), challenged African youth to unlock their collective power and reject money-driven politics. Reminding citizens that good governance requires a continuous engagement rather than an episodic, one-day election activity. Underlining this shift toward actionable impact, our Executive Director, Anthony Ubani, shared how the annual conference is evolving into a broad-based sustained civic movement. He emphasised the point that #FixPolitics has invited the experts and stakeholders in the room to help design the roadmap and architecture that will support and sustain the African Conference as a credible movement that is capable of driving progress across African countries and communities. Behind every voice at the SPPG Class of 2026 graduation was a huge team. In her closing remarks, our Dean General, Professor Abiola Akiode Afolabi(@abiolaak), first applauded the moderators, Amirah Hassan and her co-host, and called them up to take their flowers and a bow. Then she paused to bring up the people behind the scenes. “You know, behind these voices we have a huge team. And it would be nice for me to bring them up. There are so many people outside. We need to clap for them. We need to appreciate them.” The team came up to take their flowers, and the hall rose to applaud them together. To everyone who made the day possible, on stage and off: thank you. #SPPG #SPPGClassOf2026 #Graduation #FixPolitics #Governance #Leadership #Politics #breakingthemonopoly #Nigeria

Mr. Frank Nweke II(@FrankNwekeII) ended with how the school’s success should be measured. “The ultimate measure of SPPG’s success will not be really how many of its graduates become governors or legislators, ministers or presidents." The greatest measure will be whether those who emerge from this institution help to change the culture, the conduct and the outcomes of public leadership.” “While your certificate is evidence that you have studied, it is your conduct in the coming months and years that will be the evidence of what you have become.” His last words to the Class of 2026: “Do not become what you came to change. May God help you, and may God help our country.” #SPPG #SPPGClassOf2026 #Graduation #FixPolitics #Governance #Leadership #Politics #breakingthemonopoly

The greatest danger, Mr. Nweke warned, is not only that you enter public life to change the system and fail. “It is that you may become so comfortable within it that you no longer recognize the very things you entered public leadership to change.” His third charge: do not wait for public office. “I do not think that it is necessary for you to wait for public office before you begin to undertake changes that are well within your reach.” “You don’t have to be in government to create public good.” That, he said, was the entire idea behind the capstone projects: to encourage graduates to think about public problems long before they get into public office. In your communities, professions, political parties and civic organisations, “you’re going to encounter countless opportunities where you demonstrate the value, the capacity and the competence that you have learned. And I urge you to please take them.” His reason: “If you demonstrate courage and integrity and responsibility when the stakes are relatively modest, there is little reason to assume that you will suddenly acquire these qualities when the stakes become higher.” #SPPG #SPPGClassOf2026 #Graduation #FixPolitics #Governance #Leadership #Politics #breakingthemonopoly #Nigeria

The true test of your education, Mr. Frank Nweke II(@FrankNwekeII) told the graduates, “will not come when you are asked to explain governance principles or governance theories or what the problem is. We know it.” “The problem will come when the choices before you have to do with your personal interests, the interests of your friends, the interests of your communities. That is when the real challenge will normally come.” His second charge: the system will also seek to change you. It may not come head-on. “The process is sometimes gradual, with small compromises.” And character must be consistent. It cannot be that once in a while you choose not to compromise. Politics requires negotiation and compromise, @FrankNwekeII said, but there is a difference between compromising over competing interests in pursuit of the common good and compromising the principles that make that common good possible. “You may negotiate your positions. But we ask you to be true to what you have learned over the last 10 months, and please do not negotiate your integrity.” #SPPG #SPPGClassOf2026 #Graduation #FixPolitics #Governance #Leadership #Politics #breakingthemonopoly #Nigeria

Mr. Frank Nweke II(@FrankNwekeII) pointed the graduates to Chinua Achebe’s essay, “The Trouble with Nigeria.” Achebe concluded that the problem is not our climate or our geography. “It is simply squarely a failure of leadership. The inability of our leaders to recognize the responsibility that comes with public service.” “If you were to read that essay today, you’ll think it was written this morning.” Then he gave the graduates three charges. The first: "never confuse knowledge with character." The fact that you have the knowledge on how to do something does not mean that you have the character, or the capacity, or the integrity to do it. "Some of the greatest failures in public leadership have not been committed by people who lacked knowledge. They have been committed by people who knew better.” #SPPG #SPPGClassOf2026 #Graduation #FixPolitics #Governance #Leadership #Politics #breakingthemonopoly #Nigeria

The final word at the SPPG Class of 2026 graduation came from Mr. Frank Nweke II(@FrankNwekeII), Chairman of #FixPolitics Africa. After a long and joyful day, he came with one reminder. “You have graduated. You have certificates. But you have not graduated from the responsibility of transforming our country.” He reminded the graduates why the school exists: “The entire idea of the School of Politics, Policy and Governance was not birthed because Nigeria does not have educated people. We have an abundance of educated people, people who have gone to some of the best schools in the world.” So why does the country remain where it is? His answer was an uncomfortable truth: “We’ve produced leaders who have lacked the character and the capacity to really do what is clearly recognized as the right thing to do.” #SPPG #SPPGClassOf2026 #Graduation #FixPolitics #Governance #Leadership #Politics #breakingthemonopoly #Nigeria

The planning committee also had gifts for the people at the top, and the portraits were made by a students of the Class of 2026 and presented by her also. For our Dean @abiolaak, a portrait to appreciate everything she has been and done, and the fact that she graduated with us. “We’re all going to miss her so much, even though we’re leaving as well.” For our CEO, Mrs. Alero Aida Otobo(@ReformersArise), another portrait done in her favourite colour, yellow. “There’s no way you’re going to reject this.” And for our Founder, Dr. Obiageli "Oby" Ezekwesili(@obyezeks), a gift she would not give away. On behalf of the Class of 2026. Her response: “This will definitely be put in a good place in our home. Thank you very much.” #SPPG #SPPGClassOf2026 #Graduation #FixPolitics #Governance #Leadership #Politics #breakingthemonopoly #Nigeria

A thank-you from the students. The SPPG Class of 2026 planning committee, represented by Jace Ekeh and Princess Chifiero, took the stage on behalf of all the students to appreciate the team that made the programme possible. “This is all of us saying thank you for all the support.” To Mr. Joseph Agbo, who we were always bombarding with all sorts of things. Thank you so much. To Mr. Emmanuel Ohanwe, who does the heavy lifting at the back. “We disturbed you, but you supported.” Thank you. To Mr. Noah Olaibi, our Student Affairs Officer. “We’re always bombarding him and he never, never frowns at anything. He will always find a solution.” To Mr. Edward, always on our case to take the poll. “Even breakout room, you will enter.” From the Class of 2026, thank you. #SPPG #SPPGClassOf2026 #Graduation #FixPolitics #Governance #Leadership #Politics #breakingthemonopoly #Nigeria

And finally, Dr. Amina Salihu, the pioneer Dean of the School of Politics, Policy and Governance. Our Founder @obyezeks called her “scintillating” and “stellar,” and said that having her as the first dean was “really a masterstroke for us.” Dean Amina, she said, “more than delivered.” She was pivotal to the planning of the Senegal school. She now leads the Thought Leadership Department and the Big Ideas event marking Africa Day. In the founder’s words, “Amina is really an institution within the SPPG.” Speaking for her fellow deans, Dr Amina Salihu, mni (@Amina_Salihu) said: “The greatest resource at the SPPG are its people. It’s the energies that we connect.” Thank you, Dr Amina Salihu, mni (@Amina_Salihu), for leading from the very beginning and for delivering far beyond the role. #SPPG #SPPGClassOf2026 #Graduation #FixPolitics #Governance #Leadership #Politics #breakingthemonopoly #Nigeria
