Weekday ridership on M1 Line is expected to increase 13% with Bankstown extension, when compared with March 2026
In March 2026, average weekday M1 Line ridership was 274,468. A 13% increase equates to 35,680 trips, meaning average weekday ridership is expected to hit 310,000 1/2

SYDNEY | @TransportforNSW has released the full patronage data for FY25-26. @SydneyMetro patronage was up almost 15% in the 12 months to 30 June 2026, with almost 72.5 million trips made on the M1 Metro North West and Bankstown Line.
This surge in patronage comes with full-price fares and no increase in the number of stations or length of the system. It will be interesting to see what kind of bump the full opening of the Bankstown Line delivers from October 2026. Read more here: transport.nsw.gov.au/data-an…
