Two days before the conclave, we wrote this: "Prevost is not a coward or a tactician, but a loyal son of Francis, and he will continue the work of his master and benefactor, if he is elected – even if he does so in a more discreet and moderate way." wmreview.org/p/prevost-pre-c…

The gathering of all religions at Assisi: Our Lady of Fatima, Queen of Peace, is thrown out! While bonzes and Tibetan lamas were worshipping their solid-gold Buddha placed on the tabernacle of the high altar of the church of St Peter at Assisi, with their backs turned to the Blessed Sacrament, which had been left in a side chapel, Our Lady of Fatima, carried by the arms of men all the way from Calabria, was turned away, expelled from the sanctuaries, and forcibly abandoned outside, facing St Peter’s, which had been handed over to the idolaters. “The devil has engaged in the decisive battle, that is to say, the final one, from which one of the two will emerge victor or vanquished: either we are with God, or we are with the devil.” (Lucia of Fatima) Photo of Our Lady of Fatima: Agenzia Corrispondenza Romana [From a card in our possession.]

Here's another thing about @NWBroJaneway's "Malfoid" rewrite. People say, "Don't make it a 'God'll fix it' Deus ex machina scenario. Plus, if you include divine intervention it makes it irrational that God doesn't intervene at every other stage as well. What would it say about God if he didn't intervene?" This is your mind without God. Don't people who say things like this don't realise that, for us, the onnipotent God already normally declines to intervene in a dramatic, visible or special way? The fact that he would allow suffering and so on isn't an objection to this kind of narrative event, it's already accounted for in our worldview. And don't they realise, simultaneously with this, that God is in fact always "intervening" (if you want to call it that) strongly and sweetly ordering all things according to divine providence? You can like this rewrite or not, you can condemn Harry Potter or not, but this phenomenon and the reaction to it are definitely giving rise to interesting points.
Some more on the "neutral worldview" which critics of @NWBroJaneway's recent "Malfoid" work think they hold. Here's a comment someone made on the author's last chapter: "Now, the two options are 'our hero defeats his foe and emerges victorious' and 'a god steps in to do it.' Which is more satisfying? A victorious hero or a cuckolded one? If a God was going to step in and save the day...what need was there for a hero? If there was need of a hero, then the hero needs be strong enough to win the day. Even in stories where the Gods are active participants in the adventure, it is the Hero who wins the day (and in those stories where a God does win the day, it is usually because they were the protagonist/hero of that story)." This is anything but a neutral worldview. In the true worldview – that of the real world, in which the Holy Trinity is God, that Jesus Christ is the Second Person of that Trinity, made man – man can do nothing at all without God's help. Man couldn't even go on existing without God holding him in existence. So, the idea of divine assistance changing a "victorious hero" to a "cuckolded one" is ludicrous. The victorious hero is the one that God helps, and who co-operates with God. But what these people want Christians to do is to leave our whole worldview and metaphysics at the door and adopt theirs instead, on the completely false idea that theirs is the neutral one. No: theirs is theirs, and its false. Ours is God's, and its true. Once again, the same applies to the ordering of states. This is precisely why there can be no "neutral state". The "neutral state" is a state which rejects the sovereignty of God and his Christ. It is, as Pope Leo XIII called it, "legal apostasy". On the contrary: Christ is King.

I mean, they're getting something for free, which they are free to look at or not, from someone who not getting paid for it. If they don't like it, why do they complain about it, rather than just... go away? Also, complaining about the presence of Christianity is the stupidest and most un-self-aware thing possible. Every story has a metaphysical worldview. It may be the default in modern literature, but only the dimmest and densest minds fail to realise that one which presumes God does not exist, or is irrelevant, or plays no role, is not neutral at all. The same goes for a "neutral state" which presumes to act as if God might exist or might not exist. Sheesh.
